Having been a Fire Chaplain for over 25 years has made me love fire service so much more than I did when I got started. Starting out at a volunteer/partially paid department and learning on the job really did a number on my initial confidence. that I kept asking myself " why do these guys spend double or triple what they make to be on call for extreme times and have to work a job with this commitment to even be here?"

It all started when I was a new mission pastor in town and was… Continue

just a note to say I hope you're doing well, and that I have been actively serving as Chaplain for about three months now. My local church gave me licensure and the two departments I am on have started opening up with opportunities to minister. I really want to get into some 'incident stress management' classes to gain understanding of how to handle 'the big one' that's always around the corner. Good luck and God bless!

Hello ol'friend, its been a few months since I last contacted you. A couple weeks ago I got licensure from my church to be a Chaplain for my department. I have formed a good friendship with the other Chaplain in our county, and we meet every couple of weeks to share ideas on how to better serve the guys we serve with. We are looking for an association that is fundamental and somewhat proactive, not just an annual $100 newsletter. Can you suggest any that may be a good group? Bob is a Nazarine Church Pastor, and my support is an independant, fundamental Bible Church. We both run fire and EMS.

David, I've been in ministry for 13 years but just recently have had the opportunity to join our local department where I just moved as a firefighter and chaplain. What are the best resources/organizations for training? I've seen several, but was wondering what you would recommend.

David, the New Year seems to be off to a fiery start. We have had a number of house fires already and this is not a good sign so early in the year. Despite the advice we readily give to the public some persons are not taking the information seriously at all.

Bro. Ebel thank you for your kind invitation I look forward to visiting the Responders Forum and sharing with you and the other members. Things over here are getting pretty hectic but I will try and make some time to stop by and see how everyone is doing. Thanks again...
