Doesn't this just look like trouble?? I have worked my tail off for the last 3 years trying to start a new career and get back on my feet. Finally in June I took and passed (Woo Hoo) my Paramedic state exam. As a reward to myself for all my hard work, my sister and I took our 5 kids to DC for my birthday last weekend. We had a great time!! I think the kids were all ready to get home though. They didn't realize their mom's… Continue

Just want to say thanks to those who added me to their list. I just completed my firefighter 1 this past week and I can't wait to take my 2. We don't get that many fires around here, most of the calls are medical assist. I will eventually think about getting my EMT but for now I want to get as much of the fire stuff as I can. Continue

Well, I've been in the business for 32 years and still learn something new every time I roll on a call.
I'm a KATRINA victim/survivor/responder, and am slowly rebuilding my life and my home, as well as dealing with the psychobabble shit that came with it... nightmares, short temperedness, a propensity to get the shakes in a bad thunderstorm... I'm rold it's PTSD.
I have a warped sense of humor, and can trade put downs and one liners with the best of them. And will enjoy an… Continue

OK, so we didn't blog in Balto. To be quite honest, we had no time. We stayed pretty busy with everyone stopping by the booth all three days. It was great seeing all of our old friends again and making many (MANY) new one's. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say Hi!
Special thanks to WebChief for stopping by, as well as our buds from 911Webs who sponsored a kick-ass party at the Baja Beach Club. Some of the boys are still recovering (mentally,… Continue

Why a firefighter? Isn't it dangerous? How do you deal with the stress? Continue
Well I'm here to tell you that yes, it is in fact very dangerous. And at times it can be very stressful. However, I don't do it for the stereotypical image of pulling little Sally out of a burning building. But don't get me wrong, I would have her unfortunate ass out of that building faster than you could say I think my house is on fire.
Then why do you do…

THE FIRST FIRE
The burning rooms. The hot, smoky air. Just me and the company battling a raging inferno. I was barely twenty-two. My first real fire. I remember it well.
We were sleeping when the fire alarm sounded. We jumped out of bed, slid down the pole, and grabbed our gear as we headed for the fire trucks. As I suited up, I couldn’t help but feel excited, yet a… Continue

As Director of Child Predator Busters, I would like to take the time to thank each and every one of you, though I know for the most part we've never met.
Each and everyone of you, along with Law Enforcement puts your lives on the line each time you suit up and roll down our highways and byways. I did for a while have some experience with working with some firemen and paramedics when I was towing for CPD, MCSO and DPS.
I understand the depth of your… Continue

Welcome back to this, our third Predator Free Safety Tip.
For starters I could make a bet that with a pretty good guess I'd win. It's still a fact that our children still know more about the internet then most of their parents. That is where I start safety tip 3. Parents, to make a difference in your childs life or that of others, you have to become more educated about the internet than your child.
The statistics are growing daily last count was there are over 30 million… Continue
