Are you smart enough?

Are you smart enough to be a Libertarian? We do not have generations of Libertarians, who because their parents voted Libertarian, are now a Libertarian. The party is to young for that. The Mega party has members who, the only reason they vote the way they do is because mom and dad voted that way. Therefore no thought has gone into the decision.

No to be a Libertarian you have to think. You have to consider what your principles are and then research what party has the best match with…

My intro Blog

I am going to start a blog on here. It will be a little different from other blogs on this site. My main focus will be on political beliefs, not always on firefighting/EMS. I hope you find what I have to say interesting. I know many people will not agree with every thing I have to say. I am a Libertarian and have libertarian views on most things. Not many people are or feel the way I do. I hope it will make you think, even if you do not agree. If so…

Red Shirt Fridays ( military)

If the Red shirt thing is new to you, read below...

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together.

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.

Heading out I asked?…

Maltese Cross

The most common symbol used by Fire departments around the world is the

Maltese cross. It is often seen on fire trucks, uniforms and badges.

Its origins and reasons for being chosen as a universal Firefighter

symbol go back to the island of Malta in the 12th century.

The island of Malta was the home of the Knights of St. John who existed

during the 11th and 12th centuries. In order to identify themselves in

battle, when wearing full body armor, they needed a… Continue

That which doesnt kill us, makes us stronger

Calling in sick to work makes me uncomfortable. No matter how legitimate my excuse, I always get the feeling that my boss thinks I'm lying.

On one recent occasion, I had a valid reason but lied anyway, because the truth was just too darned humiliating. I simply mentioned that I had

sustained a head injury, and I hoped I would feel up to coming in the next day. By then, I reasoned, I could think up a doozy to explain the bandage on the top of my head. The accident…

Third Time's the Charm?

So, I had my third interview today. It also included a written exam and physical agility test. All of it went well, I think. I have had a curious sense of peace and satisfaction all day today, as well as a hint of soreness in my glutes from climbing ladders...that included the 80 foot aerial. What a rush THAT was! I wanted to stop at the top and look around for a bit, but it was COLD up there! If I had wiggled a bit, the ladder belt would have slipped down around my knees; guess they're made… Continue
