A Firefighters Gloves hold many things

From elderly arms to a kids broken swing

From the hands they shake and the backs they pat

To the tiny claw marks of another treed cat

At 2 am they are filled with chrome

From the DWI who was on her way home

And the equipment they use to roll back the dash

From the family of 6 she involved in the crash

The brush rakes in spring, wear the palms out

When the wind does a “90” to fill them with…

FireFighter

Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes. The tone goes off at 2 in the morning he is on his way to a wreck with entrapment. You take a warm shower to help you wake up. Hes been awake for three days working at four different stations running calls all day and night and doesn't get to shower. You complain of a "headache", and call in sick. He gets burned or trapped inside, or while cutting someone out of a car something flys off the car and injures… Continue

Hello brothers and sisters

Hello all. I am a ff/paramedic at Kirtland Fire and Emergency Services near Albuquerque, NM. I have been a fire fighter for 18 years and a paramedic going on 14 years. I fill one of the major problems the fire service has is the integration of EMS into the fire house. I feel they go hand and hand. I know I may have ruffled some feathers with that statement. Hear me out. I know many fire fighters that want nothing to do with EMS and I am all for that. I takes someone with brain damage to want to… Continue

Spoke to soon..

Was over the river in Oklahoma tonight at a high school football game (which didn't go well by the way). On the way home I stumbled onto a one car roll-over. The man and his wife were already out of the car and she she was most serious with a head-lac. People had stopped to help but I was the first emergency service there without so much as a band-aid with me. A few minutes later a medic also from Paris showed up. He had been to the same ball game and I was sure glad to see him. The local EMS… Continue
