12-08-08 Santa Barbara Newspress / WASHINGTON - The United States can expect a terrorist attack using nuclear or more likely biological weapons before 2013, reports a bipartisan commission in a study briefed Tuesday to Vice President-elect Joe Biden.
It suggests the Obama administration bolster efforts to counter and prepare for germ warfare by terrorists.
"Our margin of safety is shrinking, not growing," states the…

Taken from KCMQ.com. Thought this one was very interesting. I guess people will do anything.
Today’s award goes to the trio of girls who just got suspended from a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Anderson, California for bathing in a sink at work. Their antics were discovered after one of the girls posted photos of them on a social networking site, showing them posing in the sinks wearing underwear and swimsuits.
Sure, we all goof around at work from time to time, but why would…

I came across this cool quick video showing how we used to respond to calls... I found it very cool and retrospective. But then again, after posting this and actually watching the whole video, it's a loop with an advertisement. Pretty smart of these folks to capture our attention and then make sure you see the hook... Welcome to America... : )…

And so it ends. Went to court today for the last time. 10 months of lawyering and it comes down to 5 minutes of "Yes, Sir" in front of the judge and that was that. Of course the lawyers had to wait untill the day before court to get stuff together. Updated financial, make sure the agreement was right, change this, etc., etc. I still have to take her off of the insurance, I'll do that tomorrow when I go back to work. We went to the bank and I signed over my 72 shares of worthless (almost) JDSU…

What is a firefighter?
He's the guy next door....
He's a guy like you and me with warts and worries and unfulfilled dreams.
Yet he stands taller than most of us.
He's a fireman....
A fireman is at once the most fortunate and the least fortunate of men.
He's a man who saves lives because he has seen too much death.
He's a gentle man because he has seen the awesome power of violence out of control.
He's responsive to a child's laughter because his…

NEW SHARON FIRE HOUSE
Body: Investigators are trying to determine how a large fire erupted at a Gloucester County firehouse Monday night.
Flames were reported in the bay of the New Sharon Fire Company station on the 1800 block of Delsea Drive at about 10:30 p.m.
A fast acting firefighter was able to rescue an engine inside the burning building by driving through the bay door, officials said. Despite the…

After finally graduating college and running the fire department as assistant chief for the past year, the fire department and board of fire commissioners made it offical last night. All the headaches are now mine offically and members will get mad, but such is life, you can't please every one all of the time, you can only please some of the people some of the time. Even though I look forward to the challenges, I also look forward to the many new things that some of the members would like to…

The Firefighter's Prayer
When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age
Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in…

The following poem was sent to me, enjoy.
(Firefighter) Night Before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
All the firefighters were asleep, even the one called "The Louse",
The bunk room was filled, with farts and snores,
With visions of no fires, nor calls to pry open doors,
The Captain had just laid down, his big fat head,
Hoping and praying, the night would be dead,
When he heard a…

In order to become a great leader, we need to know what a great leader looks like. Many of us may not become great leaders, but we can try to become the best we can be. Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest leaders of modern times. A common man, who rose to become one of the world's greatest leaders. How did he do it? What character traits did he have? Below is a listing of some of his…

I just turned in my clinical book for assessments for medics class No one was there so I do not know what the next step is. I was supposed to have 10 by the end of the quarter and only had 3, but had an extension til today and only had gotten 3 more. According to the instructor It will be an incomplete. When we started the class he had said we should have 10 done by the end of the quarter, the way he made it sound it was an accumulative total and that 10 was where we should be at, NOT that we…
