Life and death.

I was tired of seeing the add saying I not posted a blog yet so here I go. I grew up in a fire house I was a Jr. at age 13 and have been in emergency services my whole life. I know of no better friendships and care or better people in the world. I am not going to sit here and say I have done this or that or give a list of training cards in my wallet. I know how much that drives me insane when others do that, so what to talk about on here?

Well I can tell you this, I have seen so many… Continue

Hello--I just stumbled onto this sight and so far have enjoyed it--

We are a member of the Jasper County, TX ESD.

We cover over 270 sq miles with a membership of about 20 active firefighters (3 of which also cover all of our med calls). We provide for a community of +/- 6000.

We have 2 brush trucks, 2 tanker/pumpers, 1 engine, 1 tanker, and our old hose truck which we are in the process of restoring (1931 ford), and we are in the process of having a command/first…

Seattle Firefighters Burned

FF's BURNED IN SEATTLE: Several Seattle firefighters were burned early this
morning in a warehouse fire. The most seriously injured firefighter was
taken to a burn unit with steam burns to his back, hands and chest and is
listed in satisfactory condition. Firefighters were called around 0300

To do what he loved

To fight fires

And save the lives of children

He’s now in heaven

long sad summer

it has been a long sad summer and its seems to take forever to get past what happened. to many close friends and brothers gone before there time. i still see their faces and think back at the good times we had. i can only talk to them when they are not around. thanks for those who gave us support and prayers. words can only say so much but deep down inside we from the city of charleston say thanks so much.

Day after day

Fire after fire

You stand tall

You hear it all

There always asking you why

Why you do what you do

You’re a female

You should be home

Now Announcing... More School!

Two of my three daughters started back to school yesterday, which leaves me alone for at least the morning hours with the youngest, Honora (she's 15 months old). Emma, my oldest, said to me that I must be sad because I don't go back to school anymore. Of course I told her, I go to school now just as much as I used to, but I didn't want to say, not everyone I work with does though. When you get to be the chief, do you keep going back to school? When you're the Director of the Task Force, have…

Dry Run v2

We dogded the Dean, but this time Guvnr Goodhair pulled the trigger a little soon and had all the USAR Task forces sitting in harms way if it had come this way. I guess he's paying for all the Statewide mutual aide that's been sitting for 5 days waiting. A lot of unneccessary miles on fire trucks. Maybe he'll wait just a little longer next time.

Our good buddy FEMA Admin pulled his triggers as well, and now can prove that his improvements to the organization work! All in place and…

An Uncomfortable Silence

I had my interview for Broken Arrow Fire. I'd like to say it went pretty well, but I honestly don't know. I really hope it did. Guess we'll find out in the next week or two, for now I have a nice long BIQ to keep me busy.

Hello

Hey everyone, I am an EMT/FF in Wilson County in the great state of Tennessee. I have been an EMT for 7 years and a Firefighter for 6 years. I have the greatest job in the world other then being a mom. My love of helping others is the reason that I do this field. I have seen how life can be taken away prematurily, so I have learned to take life one day at a time and emjoy every second. Never look forward to the future, it comes quick…

First Call

After my EVOC certificate arrived in the mail (and was promptly framed and put on the wall), I began precepting as a driver. Precepting, I learned, is just a fancy word for 'training'. I make my way over to the station one Wednesday night, and meet the crew I will be running with. I meet Steve, John, Hank, Drew, Ed and Liz, all of whom I am sure I'll come to know and love.

John, a professor at my university, gives me the orientation. He tells me about procedures, courtesies, ettiquite and… Continue

This our 2007 Freightliner E-ONE that we got on a grant a few months back. This truck has really helped our department tremendously. Before if we had a structure fire we would have to put our fans and other equip on our brush trucks. The engine we had was a 1962 boardman tanker. It had no storage whatsoever. This truck saves precious time just in the fact all of our equip is already onboard.…

Local Sacramento K9 passes

This article is about one of our locals that was at the 9/11 Trade Center. It's a great article about a great team and it talks about their training as well.
