Greetings from Picture Butte, Alberta.
I'm from a small rural combined service (fire/rescue and ambulance).
My Dept. consists of 23 volunteers. Most of us are EMR trained or higher, but no paramedics. We provide fire services to 3 other hamlets, our home town, and approximately 400 square miles of rural farming country. Our ambulance provides BLS services to that area and 2 other nearby communities. We have good working relationships with the communities that surround and support us.

Both stations I am at are nothing but volunteer. In fact we only have a few stations in the county have 2 paid personnel on staff 24 hours. I think all stations should have at least 2 paid personnel at all times for public safety reasons. Then there will be staff on duty 24/7 to answer calls and the trucks can get in route immediatly.

Hello! I am a Captain with the Dade County R-4 RFPD in Greenfield, Mo. I am in charge of a small station where we have a tanker, an engine, and 3 personnel. In all we have three stations in our district with around 40 firefighters. Of course as with most volunteer departments you have maybe half that are active.

Hi everyone, I'm the Chief of Stockton VFD in Stockton, Ut. We have a small dept of 16 members and cover about 1000 people, 600 in Stockton and about 400 in the surrounding area. We respond to an average of 120 calls per year, a good mix between medicals and wildland fires.

Thank You for letting me join this Group. I'm from a small town fire department also so I should know about most of the things you all talk about.

Thank You
Firefighter Hicks,
Davy Volunteer Fire Department.
