Actually Deerhurst is on our boarder for Huntsville and Lake of Bays. We are closer so often we respond first for any calls in that area. For the G8 all Huntsville and Lake of Bays fire fighters went full time for the week. We were posted and on shifts at halls. Not a large call volume, and nothing serious happened but it was fun. I was on 16 hours a day for six days. Loved every minute of it.
Its actually in the Lake of Bays township. We run Huntsville and Lake of Bays together. its about 2.5 hours north of toronto, where the G8 is being held. Between our 6 halls we cover 1100 square miles, not including the coverage that we have mutual aid agreements with. Hill side is actually just on the Huntsville and Lake of bays border.
I am a dept of defense federal civilian firefighter. i work for the air force. we have some military reservists that work on shift for experience but we are all federal civialians. be safe and have a great night
