9/11 article By Ret. FF Dennis Smith

THE ANGER NEVER DIES

Six joyful summers and six hopeful springs have passed since so many good people were slaughtered by Islamist radicals in 2001. When I think of the summer games played by the victims' children and the annual spring rituals of their widows and widowers, I take some satisfaction

in our human capacity to take life by the hand and go forward.

But I also cannot forget the agony of that day and the profound pain we…

NAPLES FLORIDA FIREFIGHTER NEEDS YOUR HELP

My fellow firefighters,
I am a firefighter from Naples, Florida. I have been a firefighter/paramedic for the past 14 years. I have worked on a DMAT Team that served at Ground Zero on 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. I love my job but music is my passion. My songs are from what I have seen and felt in my life and as a firefighter. I sing them from my heart.
I recently posted a video on You tube. I was wondering if you could send this email to all of your friends to…

FIRE FIGHTER

When the fire trucks are delayed 40 seconds in traffic, People say:

"It took them 20 minutes to get here."

When the truck races at 40 m.p.h., it's:

"Look at those reckless fools."

When four men struggle with an eight-man ladder:

"They don't even know how to raise a ladder."

When firemen open windows for ventilation to reduce heat in fighting a fire:

"Look at the wrecking…

WOO HOOO!

I just got word today that I have been accepted as a Tulsa Fire Department Cadet. I am WAY pumped. I go later this month and do the ladder climb and take a psych test...so I could still screw this up. Academy starts in January, so I have a little time to get into a little decent shape, cause I'm not at all.

About Me

Ok here it is, the low down on me and why i became a firefighter.

I'm a mother of two working full time for a non-profit organization in Colorado that assist low income families with financial assistance and a full time volunteer for the Hanover Fire Department. If you were to ask me what I did in my spare time I would look at you and say what's that.

I became a firefighter/EMT because of my grandfather. I grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado before it became a tourist town and my…

ME, JUST PLAIN OL' ME

I am a very easy person to get along with. Like any other person, I have my up's and down's. I am a father of two very loving children. My children mean the world to me. I will do anything for them. I enjoy being around people, having fun, camping, and being part of the Volunteer Fire Service. That's Me in a nutshell.

9/11 Ceremony Speech...

Yesterday was the Salem County Patriot Day ceremony remembering 9/11. One of the instructors with the local Fire Academy was telling the story of when he went up to NY and it really was moving and i thought everyone should hear it even though I don't remember it word for word I'll do my best:

"On the morning of September 11th, 2001, I was at work when I heard that the World Trade Centers were hit. Right when I was told this I rushed over to the nearest TV to see what was going on. The…

Something to think about! Enjoy your Saturday.

The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the

first to rise, or maybe it's the

unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first

few hours of a

Saturday morning are most enjoyable.

A few weeks ago, I was shuffling toward the garage with a…

Goldfeder: The Truth Hurts

By BILLY GOLDFEDER

FirefighterCloseCalls.com

The Randolph (MASS) Board of Selectmen suspended their Fire Chief Monday evening for telling the truth...following

comments he made at a fire in May that trapped and killed two boys.

Randolph Fire Chief Charles Foley truthfully said his staffing was short-handed,

which didn't help their ability to effectively do search and rescue

that night. He said if they… Continue

Just a little about Me!

I am a 20 year old country boy from a small community called Saulston in Eastern North Carolina. I love living in the country. I am a volunteer firefighter at Saulston Volunteer Fire Dept. I love helping out in the community. I love to hunt, fish, and boating. I love anything to do the water. Other that being a firefighter i dont think there is anything better than sitting in a duck blind at the crack of dawn and listening to…

"Can We Make It On Time"

The pagers go off, calling us out.

The dispatcher gives the address, with a loud shout.

I jump out of bed as fast as I can.

Grab my shoes and my keys as they page us again.

I go out to my truck, plug in the dash light.

Cause somewhere in town is a fire I must fight.

Wipeing the sleep from my eyes, I see a bright glow in the distance.

A policeman yells over the radio "Code 3, I need assistance"

He said there is screaming,…

A firefighter poem

HE STARES IN THE FACE OF DEATH

WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT

TO SAVE THAT ONE SPECIAL LIFE

THAT HE SO BRAVELY SOUGHT

HE HAS WALKED AS CLOSE TO

"HELL ON EARTH"

AS ANY MAN COULD DO

AND HE'S SO PROUD OF THE JOB HE DID

FOR PEOPLE HE NEVER KNEW

HE PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE

EVERYTIME DUTY CALLS

ALWAYS DOING WHAT NEEDS TO DONE

WITHOUT EVEN A PAUSE

HE IS A FIREMAN

WITH OVERWHELMING PRIDE

NEVER AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE

WHEN…
