Ok here it is, the low down on me and why i became a firefighter.
I'm a mother of two working full time for a non-profit organization in Colorado that assist low income families with financial assistance and a full time volunteer for the Hanover Fire Department. If you were to ask me what I did in my spare time I would look at you and say what's that.
I became a firefighter/EMT because of my grandfather. I grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado before it became a tourist town and my grandfather was one of the original firefighters. When he became ill with multiple strokes I always wondered what I could do to assist him and others during that "golden hour". I started my firefighting when I was 18 and quit shortly after that because of the gift of my daughter and son. I didn't return to firefighter until both my children were old enough to understand why mommy had to be away on Tuesday nights for trainings and meetings.
At the fire department I am the Rehab Team officer who provides the emergency workers medical rehabilitation during extended scenes. I am also one of the responders for our fires and other scenes that we may come across. If you were to pay me for this I would not accept it. I feel that this position is worth more money than one could offer, you can't put a price on a human life no matter what age.
If you have any question feel free to ask, I will answer them as fast as possible.
