Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Its not a matter of Why I joined, its because I wanted to...Everyone has a dream and mine come true...If you want something bad enough its up to you to go get it..So here I am..
Top Issues Facing Responders:
When People See Reds Or Blues That Means Slow Down NOT Speed Up, Give Us A Break: I Mean Literally.
A FIREMAN
A FIREMAN IS A PERSON WITH A HEART OF GOLD....
WILLING TO RISK THERE LIFE TO SAVE ONES SOUL....
WE DANCE IN A PLACE MOST WONT GO......
OUR WEAPON OF CHOICE IS NONTHING BUT A HOSE.....

WE WORK IN TEAMS, TEAMS OF TWO....
THAT'S THE LAW WE LIVE BY THRU AND THRU.....

SO NO MATTER WHAT IN YOUR TIME OF NEED....
YOU CAN COUNT ON US WE'RE A SPECIAL BREED.....

CHIEF NORMAN..........

VOL. FIREMAN
AS THE PAGE GO'S OUT WE HURRY TO OUR FEET, NO MATTER WHAT TIME WE KNOW WHERE TO MEET......

WE GET ON THE TRUCKS AND TURN ON THE LIGHTS, AND AWAY WE GO INTO THE DARKENED NIGHTS.....

WE DONT ASK FOR MUCH AND DONT GET PAID A DIME, THE ONLY THING WE GAIN IS SAVING A LIFE....

AS WE ARRIVE ON SCENE WE ACT AS ONE, WE WORK TOGETHER TO GET THE JOB DONE....

WHEN THE FIRE IS OUT AND EVERYONES SAFE, ITS TIME TO GO HOME AND BLESS THIS DAY....

AS WE PULL INTO THE STATION AND TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, WE WAIT FOR THAT PAGE FOR ANOTHER NIGHT....

SOME PEOPLE QUESTION A VOL'S PLACE, BUT WITH THIS HERE POEM I HAVE ONE THING TO SAY....

THERE IS NONTHING LARGER THEN A VOL'S HEART, AND YOUR FAMILY MAY COME DRIVING THRU THIS HERE PART....

AND IF SO IN THERE TIME OF NEED, ANGELS ARE WITH US WERE VOL'S YOU SEE....

CHIEF NORMAN....

FIREHOUSE
I STAND TALL IN THE MIDDLE OF TOWN....
MY WALLS ARE TIN AND INSULATED AROUND...

MY ROOF IS STRONG THAT KEEPS MY GUYS SAFE...
MY DOORS ROLL UP WITH A ROPE AT ITS BASE....

AT NIGHT I SLEEP UNTIL THE PAGE GO'S OUT...
THEN I COME ALIVE WITH ALL THE LIGHTS ABOUT...

MY FLOOR IS HARD, HARD AS A ROCK....
TWELVE INCHES THICK AND STRONG AS AN OX...

I HOUSE THE EQUIPMENT THAT SAVES ONE'S LIFE...
I KEEP IT ALL WARM AND KEEP IT ALL DRY....

I MAY HAVE A BUMP AND A SCRAPE HERE & THERE...
BUT YOU CAN NEVER MISS ME WITHIN MY TOWN SQUARE...

IM NOT HARD TO FIND WITH THE HERO'S WITHIN...
THEY ALWAYS COME BACK WHERE IT ALWAYS BEGINS...

SO NEVER FORGET..... THAT SIREN SOUND....
JUST REMEMBER IT'S ME...

THE FIREHOUSE IN TOWN....

CHIEF NORMAN

A STORY TO TELL...
I WAS A YOUNG MAN AND I CAN REMEMBER WHEN....
I WAS COMING FROM SCHOOL JUST ONCE AGAIN....

WE COME AROUND A CURVE AND LOST CONTROL....
JUST MY COUSIN AND I WITH NO SEAT BELT TO HOLD...

THE IMPACT WAS GREAT AS I WENT FLYING THRU THE AIR...
HEAD FIRST THRU THE WINDSHIELD WITH SUCH A BLANK STARE....

AS THE METAL CAME TO, TO A SCREECHING HALT...
I FOUND MYSELF LYING IN A DITCH OR A HOLE...

I CLOSED MY EYES THANKING, THIS MUST BE A DREAM...
THE NEXT THING I REMEMBER WAS A FIREMAN ON SCENE....

HE WAS MY GUARDIAN ANGEL THAT KEPT ME ALIVE....
A VOLUNTEER FIREMAN THAT DONT GET PAID A DIME...

HE STAYED THERE WITH ME, UNTIL I WAS TAKEN AWAY....
AND I CAN STILL REMEMBER, HIS FIRST AND LAST NAME....

FROM THAT POINT ON, I KNEW WHAT I WOULD BE....
I STAND HERE TODAY A FIREMAN YOU SEE.....

THIS IS A TRUE STORY THAT HAPPEN TO ME!!!!!!!

CHIEF NORMAN....

The last call
Today is a day a brother has fallen...
We are side by side within a column...

No one looks forward to a day like this...
As our arms are straight and end with a fist.

We stand at attention dressed in blues...
As the bag pipes are played thru and thru....

You cant help but thank of the people he's saved...
As a tear rolls down our saddened face...

It makes you reflect on the job we do....
But no matter what we see them all thru...

As you read these words...... On your screen....
Say a prayer.... For that final ring....

My brothers gone home.... To his final place...
He lies in heavin.... With a smile on his face...

As we get on those trucks and roll out of sight....

He will not be forgotten...
He's a brother for life...

Chief Norman..

Fireman’s Dream...

As he closes his eyes and starts to dream....
He fly’s away from that forbidding scene...

He goes to a place far away...
Where no one gets hurt...Not any day...

He walks along on clouds of faith...
His soul as pure, as any race...

The day will come when he's replaced...
He's done his job upon this place...

But for now he begins to wake...
As the tones go off at heavens gates...

God replies and sends him back...
To save a life...
With just his axe....

Chief Norman

Wildland Man

As the sun starts to rise over the miles of gray...
His day begins after he prays...

He and His crew have worked days on end...
Shovels an Racks and Chainsaws within...

His boots are laced up with dry socks again....
With his blacken Nomax.... stained in his skin....

They all have hope the rain will come...
But for this here day it's just the wind and the sun...

He has his orders to flank the left side....
With the wind at his back.... and no place to hide....

His job is hard thru blood and sweat...
A Hero to those...who he has met...

And from this day forth he can honestly say...
He will be there when...
The sky turns Gray....

By Chief Norman...

The Old Truck...
There is a place that not many know...
With fields of wheat that farmers grow...

In this town with a color by name...
You will find a dept without any shame...

They take pride in the trucks no matter there age...
From turning wrenches to buffing the paint...

The truck in question is still young at heart...
A 78 model and full of spark...

She may not be much but it’s all we have...
Missing some paint and a pump gone bad...

I could only imagine the day she was new...
Gleaming with red and the chrome bolted thru...

But the day will come when she can take no more...
Not able to get out that fire department door...

If she could only speak, the stories she could tell...
Of the lives she saved and the scenes from hell...

She has been a mother to all us guys...
Turned us to men without despise...

As time goes on she needs replaced...
She’s done her job upon this place...

But for now she will have to do...
In hopes will get something new...

This last weekend the 25 & 26 firefighters from all across the state of Okla. got together in one place and trained. Chickasha Fire Department hosted the school and had an outstanding turn out. Okla State University had instructors on the spot to answeer any and all questions in class or out. The amount of information and expertise was beyond words I take my hat off to Chickasha Fire Dept and all the sponsors and to my brothers and sisters who was there from all these different departments… Continue

How many of you emergency personal can actually say when you walk into a building and notice right off the bat where the fire exits are and if the building is sprinkled or even as much as if they have fire extinguishers and if there up to code? Now I know allot of us live and breath this stuff on day to day bases but do we leave what we know at the office, or does it go right along with us when we have our most prized positions like our husbands, wife’s or even our children.... When let’s say… Continue

Just wanted to give a shout and say we're lovin the new truck! Engine 20 made its first call last monday a house fire and we even had a chance to catch a hydrant (that may sound strange to some but it doesn't happen very often here) She drives like a cadillac and is a breeze to operate.
