Ralph, Not all white hats forget where we come from. I drive across two bridges to the island on which I work, and every morning I repeat my mantra "Don't forget where you came from today" as I cross the bridges.

Ended up with two calls an a public service. Hot day ended with a barbecue with three of my firefighters. Fun stuff.....

Yes, I go directly to the scene. A while back I jumped into the engine in one of the SCBA seats and when the Officer got on the truck he did a double take. I said "WHAT?" Get this truck moving, weve got work to do. :) Yup, we DO have to have some fun once in a while.

the thicker the better. LOL I was involved in a serious accident in 03. Spent a year off work and then 8 months of physical therapy. Had a driver during the therapy time. I hated it. Of course I couldnt do much anyhow. Just used my brain. Actually I drive a quick attack/rescue vehicle as my command vehicle. I respond to all calls. I wouldnt want it any other way. Miss out on the fun.............

Same here Ralph. Ide rather drive the "Big Red" Truck though. As Chief I dont get to do that very often though.

I always like to drive on those calls. Being confined n a small area with that smell and them hurling is not my idea of fun.
