I am in need of some volunteers to serve as medics (currently can only function as a first responder) for the 3D Med Detachment of the Ohio Military Reserve (OHMR). The Ohio Military Reserve is a component of the Ohio National Guard with the Governor as our Commander in Chief. Our units can never be federalized to serve overseas like the National Guard and Reserves. We are Ohio's last line of defense. We are looking to build our unit up. The 3rd Med Detachment is Headquartered out of Rickenbacher Air National Guard Base in Columbus. Weekend drill is scheduled for the last weekend of the month. We just returned from a week of Annual training at Camp Perry near Port Clinton, Ohio. Per the Ohio Revised Code- http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/5923.05 Fulltime government employees within the state are granted paid leave to attend monthly drills and Annual Training as long as they do not go over the prescribed hours.
We also have a need for nurses, CNAs, and LPNs. Unfortunately each member is responsible for incurring the costs of uniforms and equipment. We are professional when we have to be and we have fun also. If you served in the federal service and miss it or never was able to serve for whatever reason, the OHMR has a place for you. check out the website at www.ohmr.oh.gov and also the Ohio Revised code section 5920 for further information or drop me an email.
