Hello Ladies, doesn't anyone have anything to say other than how terrible the men treat us & how discriminated against we are? Surely some one has something GOOD to say about SOMETHING. C'mon I want to hear some of the positive things about being fire fighters. Or practical things like how you deal with child care or health issues. . . WAKE UP FFFs!!

hello everyone. im a volunteer firefighter in pennellville ny. i just became a new member of this group. just wanted to say that i told someone i was a volunteer firefighter and their comment was. ''a woman? firefighter?'' then they told me they were happy for me.

Hi everyone:

The New York State Women Firefighter's Training Week is fast approaching. This is a great opportunity for hands-on and classroom training at the New York State Fire Academy in Montour Falls, NY. Instruction is provided by New York State Fire Instructors. You do not have to be a New York State Firefighter/EMT to participate - we have had attendees from across the US and Canada in the past. Much more affordable than larger conferences, this conference is also catered towards both volunteer and career firefighters. A nice opportunity to network and meet other women in the profession. Also - you can learn about Phoenix Firecamp - a firematics camp designed to encourage young women interested in fire and emergency services. Go to the Fire Service Women of New York State website - www.fswnys.org to download an application form. It's a great training opportunity and a lot of fun!

Hello to all and pray things are going good for everyone. We as females do have to prove ourself's and sometimes thats still not good enough.We have a few females oon our little dept. We work with one dept. that helped us on a major call that I was in command and when the other dept. showed and I told them where I needed them they said they wanted to speak with someone else in command.After about 10 critical minutes later I finally got them to go where needed after yelling him their face.As long as we can hold our own and train like them and do as they do they need to suck it up.
