Hello every one. Currently under our State law we are to wear seatbelts and our dept. is working on enforcing it. Another policy we are working on is that no one is to exit a fire apparatus from the drivers-side of the vehicle ( with the exception of the driver).

If we get caught driving/riding without our seat belt, we could get a day off without pay. It only takes a second to put that seat belt on, but it could cost you a life time.

...and thats the way it should be!

I believe in the 16 safety initiatives,my partner and I don't roll our EMS rig unless we can see each other has his belt on . Our newly delivered 4-door pumpers have the red seatbelts and as an Driver/Engineer I ain't moving it out of the bay unless I can see a red strap across everybody's chest . Stay Safe everybody . hello to all
i am a great supporter of this and at my fire house that i have belonged 23 years they don't have a safety officer or anyone to worry about accountability. someone needs to know who is going in and coming out or not coming out!!!! and how do you know that unless someone does accountability. the tags everyone has and wears but no one takes them off and collects them to be sure everyone come home!
