I have a BS in Public Safety Administration from Grand Canyon University and a MS in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. I am currently pursuing a DBA with a concentration in Homeland Security. I have become an outspoken proponent that we need higher education in our profession.

It is great to see an interest in higher education amongst our profession. Unfortunately, this is an area where law enforcement has been ahead of us for too long. I have an AS in Fire Service Leadership as well as a BS in Fire Science. They are through Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati respectfully. UC’s program was completely online which is great for firefighters! I am going to begin my MS this fall in Fire Service Administration. Good luck with your collegiate experience!

Well, all of my hard work at school is starting to pay off. I've maintained a GPA of 3.673 for the past year and this morning, I received a letter from school inviting me to be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honors Society! Not only does that look great to any fire department attached to a Fire Sciences degree, but great way to get a $3000.00 scholarship for my B.S. Add that to 2 Dean's Commendations and I have a pretty good education career going!

I just recently recieved my Associates of Applied Science/Fire Science degree from Columbia Southern University on line. I start my Bachelors program in Aug. and have 16 mos. untill I get that degree. By the way - I was a High School drop out that got a GED to join the USAF. I am also 52 yrs old. Your NEVER too old to get an education.
