Good morning! How are we faithing? Cool morning and my furnace doesn't work...again...oh well. We are going to face things all the time that are not the way we want them to be. We will pass through trials and troubles our whole life but God will equip us to deal. God never leaves or forsakes us. Anytime you feel God is distant from you, it ain't him distant, it's you distant from him. Now how can we prevent that? How can we stand up for God and be equipped to face stuff? The Word tells us...
Eph 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
remember Kellynn Thompson...remember Pat Barnes' Mom...
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your wisdom in your Word. Lord help us to don your armour daily. Help us remember who we are and who our Father is. Lord, bless those mentioned and the unmentioned prayers of the readers of this daily. In Jesus name, amen
Good morning! How are we faithing? I find it difficult many times with giving advice. Mostly because I do not feel I am qualified to give it and I also realize my mere 50 some odd years on this planet is but a vapor compared to history as we know it. The only way I can give advice that remains sound is with scripture. Sure we all have life experiences we can share but not always does our method or our successes equal someone elses. Somethings, like running stop signs, will begat a certain result but the things that go on in our heart can vary so wildly based on so many factors it is very dangerous sometimes to give hard pat answers. As today unfolds, pay attention the dynamics of events around you. Think on the Lord and his Word and not your opinion. Apply these things listed below. Trust in the Lord, lean not on just your understanding...
1Th 5:14-23
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble minded support the weak, be patient toward all men.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit.
Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Remember my daughter Annie's surgery ... remember Rick's Pastor...
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your love and patience for a lot like us. Lord, help us remember your Word and your wisdom in all we do. Lord we lift up Annie today. Comfort her. Guide the Doctors hands. Lord we lift the Pastors up and rebuke satan and his henchmen in the name of Jesus that they abandon their schemes to harass and destroy us. In Jesus name we pray, amen
Good morning! How are we faithing? Struggling this morning with many things on my mind but yet not a pointed direction. Ever have those times? Thinking about everything, jump from one thing to another, kinda like a big grocery list when you try to put it in order like the aisles at the super market are set up. Today lets be sure we communicate with our savior. Pray without ceasing. Talk to him today. Ponder him. Listen and watch. Focus on your job of course but pay close attention to him all around you. Ask him to guide you and to reveal what you are to do with your life. Be sure to thank him for all he has done as well as asking for peace. I don't know who needs to hear this today but don't dismiss it. God is speaking to you so tune in...
Jas 1:19-20
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Heb 3:15
While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Psa_143:8
Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; For in thee do I trust: Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; For I lift up my soul unto thee.
remember Burt and Doug...
Heavenly Father,
Bless us Lord and open our ears to your voice. Let our eyes not deceive us. Open our heart to your ways and help us be quick to understand. Touch your people today so they can touch others, Give us vision and wisdom Lord and it's in your name we pray, amen
Good morning! How are we faithing? We want to get better, improve as it were and any time we improve on our own or think we did it on our own we step into a dangerous place of pride. We're not talking about learning and getting real good at our job but improving in our walk with Jesus and then starting to think we're all that and before you know it, look at others and pick em apart. If and when your life improves because of adhering to Godly principles always be sure to pray with thanksgiving as soon as you realize it is taking place. We are and were not capable of improving ourselves without God and if we don't want to stumble off God's path we need to remind ourselves. Jesus prayed and communed constantly with the Father. The apostles prayed all the time too because besides this is a relationship, they never forgot from whence they came. If you want to avoid becoming one of those "holier than thou" people everyone complains about or look down your nose at the less fortunate you had better be quick to recognize from where your improvement came from.
1Ti 6:3-5
If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Good morning! How are we faithing this fine day? One of my daughters friends has such a striking smile and I remember her as this little kid, all teeth with deep dimples, always waving and speaking kindly when ever she saw me and today I see this grown up with those same attributes with her own kids and this does cause reflection. Reflection on the temporal life we all live in this vessel called flesh. The flesh decays and wears out while we age and I don't like it. As I age and mature in this faith I realize many things that I didn't even know there was a question about in my youth. It is common to mankind to go through this sort of thing and I do see many that struggle very much with this. The only thing that remains constant is God and his love. If not for that we probably would have killed each other off a few millennia ago. Passing on this knowledge while realizing the younger are most likely viewing things like we did does teach us patience and a willingness to wait for their realization all the while presenting an example of Godly men and women for them to learn from. When we look at things from that perspective we begin to realize just how important our relationship with Messiah is. Important for our eternity and important for the next generations. The responsibility of our teaching example for them becomes so important so as to not instill that same anger and bitterness we carry. That is a big part of what we have talked about this week.
2Co 4:16
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
Psa 73:26
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Great morning! How are we faithing? You know, how we act, what we say does have an impact on others. The Bible has tons of teaching on what we've discussed this week. It is paramount that we as believers control our tongue. It is imperative we don't become captive to anger which leads to bitterness which leads to no peace. We have to remember Jesus forgave everyone else's sin too. Some things do require correction but in love. Some things do make us angry by flying off the handle serves no one but satan. Now if you need to go scream in your garage, do it and make sure you let go of the anger or all you've done is make noise. We have to be quick to forgive and dump the judgmental attitude. You know, here is some truth, not everyone sees things the way you do therefore it would make much more sense to live according to the Word and pray for others that they may find God's path rather than worrying about making them follow yours.
Jas 1:19-20
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Good morning! How are we faithing? We've heard it before that we should not make decisions while ticked off because we are not thinking right. I've also dealt with people who act in what they deem as "righteous indignation" as so have you I'm sure. Most of those people I've dealt with have anger issues and the root problem isn't what they are pointing out. Not sinning in our anger can be very hard. Who has said something while ticked off only to regret it later? Training oneself to pause and pray quickly when they get mad is a exercise in love and grace. Jesus himself got angry at the merchants at the Synagogue but acted righteously. He controlled the anger, not the other way around. Not dealing with anger can also plant seeds of bitterness so squashing it down isn't beneficial either. The fine line of action vs reaction when angry takes much concentration and trust. If we follow the Word's way and leave the consequences to God we do indeed become more stable in peace and in turmoil.
Eph 4:26-27
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
Good morning! How are we faithing? We have touched upon complaining and murmuring lately and how as a sin it can whoop up on us eventually causing bitterness. Bitterness can cause us to become so critical of others we either ignore our own flaws or allow deep depression come upon us because of them. When grief leads us to the basement to dig holes we start to feel sorry for ourselves and hide it with the victim mentality because we feel slighted and then we lash out at others. I know a touch of this is part of the healing process, a stage if you will, but many stay there and dwell and that's when bitterness creeps in. Asking questions like "why me" has to be very short lived or our focus leaves God and onto our self thus we turn off that straight path on to the path that leads to destruction. I didn't say it is easy to get out of the basement sometimes but you have to climb those stairs. You know, reminding ourselves of Gods sovereignty and his love for us begins with being convinced of that love and followed up with surrendering ourselves and trusting that he does what he says he will. Without those steps we could end up digging deeper and deeper and eventually we can't climb out of the hole we dug. Don't allow bitterness to rule man, run to Jesus before the grip is to tight.
Heb 12:15-16
See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.
2Pe 2:19
They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
remember Kat...remember Brian...
Heavenly Father,
Forgive us our sins. Help us not become bitter for any reason. Help us understand the grace and love you offer. Lord we lift up the lost to you. Send your Holy Spirit on them and show them your love. We ask for courage to stand and pull up out of the things that cause depression and bitterness. Thank you for your love. Gather your people to you and let us all be so aware of your presence we reflect light so bright we need to son glasses. In Jesus name, amen
Good morning! How are we faithing? Man, sometimes it is hard just to deal with day to day stuff. We get entangled in things that we didn't even want any part of but due to circumstances or relationships we end up right in the middle of them. Rarely if ever is, "If it were me", pertinent to the issue at hand. Here's the thing, Jesus loves you and me. Jesus sacrificed for your sins and mine. Believers are told to "work out their salvation with fear and trembling", not to earn that salvation but walk their walk and not someone else's. Do we teach others and correct when necessary? Sure we do but wisdom is necessary as to the method and your place in their life. Many a feeling has been hurt from good intentions with bad delivery. Many hurt feelings are because of commenting where comments weren't pertinent. In love as a way and not an excuse do we interject. This can be a balancing act but if we as believers refuse to approach others sin with a pointing finger or a "holier than thou" attitude we may just help save someone from future pain and suffering rather than just alienating them. Just think about this today...
2Pe 1:5-11
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Good morning! How are we faithing? It does come to my attention that many times I don't know what to say to people thus I shut up and hug. Many times when people go through things that I never have, the only thing I can do is pray to Jesus quickly and offer scripture...or shut up. It's awkward sometimes to talk to people who are struggling with tragedy because there really isn't anything in the moment to say except scripture... or shut up. Heart felt words require love and love requires support for people in pain. I have said to many a person in pain that I don't know what to say but I care and am available. Grief and woes affect different people different and "what I'd do" isn't even worth the breath needed to speak. The only statements that carries any power in those situations come from the Word of God and even those must be used wisely. When emotions are raw people are vulnerable to all sorts of things and innocent statements can be taken completely different than what was meant. I have a friend who lost their son and she told me that people acting like he never existed is as bad as the death itself yet I understand why people avoid talking about them because the do not wish to inflict any more pain. This line we walk with grieving people deserves prayer, study and compassion because without selfless compassion, we will cause more hurt unnecessarily. Just think about this.
Rom 15:1-2
Now we that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, unto edifying.
1Th 5:14
And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.
