Hey man sorry it took so long to write back. Wackenhut has nice "city" equipemnt not to good for the rough roads and places here but it works. Depending where you go you ownt see much fire anyway. Specially now days that they have been fixing the horrbile wiring problems. That was the big fire starter back in 06-07 when i was here before. basiclly these days are now INSPECTIONS INSPECTIONS and AUDITS. So lots o fpaper work and walking around checking smoke detectors and basic housekeeping and wiring issues. Its not bad at all and the money is great! Our company has a great record of keeping their guys safe here. So ur wife has nothing to worry about really. You live and work on a secure military base.
Actually we have 6 seasons here. There's the ones everyone else has and the Mus season which starts the day the first heavy rain hits the snow and stops the day brush fire season starts
Oh everything is going great! as far as training....Listening to the DNR is like watching paint dry......other than that I Love it all! Glad to hear your brother is back!
The Quarter auction is at home business vendors that set up and people bid on your items. The highest amount they bid is .75 for an item worth $75.00 or more. Then they pull a number out of the bucket and you bid and it is your number it is your item. Usually a crowd of 200 people and with all the people bidding it is a great money maker. If you would like more info let me know
Ohh....okay, I didn't find out until Thursday night when I was at class about a class that Chillicothe Fire was putting on but I had already scheduled one of my Ambulance Shifts for Friday, so I wasn't too happy cuz our instructor is the chief of that place and didn't let us know yet it was open for all agencies. It was on grain bin rescue. I thought that it would be a good class for some of us to attend out of our county since we have had 2 farm related accidents in the past ohh......6 to 9 months.
I started out in a volunteer dept that had a fire tax. It was real nice not having to fund raise. Yes now being a paid guy the taxes of the city pay for the 130 firefighters in the department.
