Good morning! How are we faithing? We are living in a fallen world. Stuff happens to the good and bad. The sun comes up and sets on everyone. If we are more religious will less happen to us? In the natural? Nope. With prayer and faith I believe less does and we skirt calamity occasionally. I believe Jesus protects us but we are flesh and blood and mortal. We do live in these bodies here on planet earth and we will face trials, calamity, natures wrath or whatever we call it but how we deal is what's important. Do you revert when things get tough? Sure we do because it's familiar and we are at a loss as to what to do and creatures of habit. Keep in mind that the Word is our base, the spirit leads and our joy comes from the Lord. Looking at the flood victims along the Mississippi we can see why smiling faces may be hard to find but what lessons will come of it? I don't know but there will be lessons and victories that grow some of them, we pray they recognise them. Struggles of our own doing and some not can be overcome with the correct focus. That time you spend with God is so important! Even in the midst of it all we must make sure we take the time to commune with God. It's just as important to do it in the good times as in crisis.

Hebrews 10:23-24
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
NIV

John 16:23-24
I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
NIV

1 Peter 2:4-6
As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
NIV

All this to say that we have the right and the privilege as believers in Christ to go to the Father and ask for anything in his will. If it is detrimental to us we get "no" answers. Seeking God's will in our lives starts with that attitude change that comes by faith, learning the Word and applying to our lives what we discover. Hard? Oh ya, sometimes it is but rest assured that the tough times with "God focus" will bear out what is best.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all you do. Lord help us seek your will, not waver, not lose faith or trust in you. Grant us the strength to stand and to recognise satans wares and rebuke them. Lord we need a touch and we need wisdom so we don't sabotage our relationships, our witness and our walk. Lord we do lift the brothers and sisters to you. Bless them in a way that they can't help but see your ways! Lord open our eyes to the needs around us. in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! A popular song on christian radio says'"I wanna to be be your hands, I wanna be your feet" and it keeps ringing in my ears. How are you doing? Do you want to be Gods hands and feet on earth? Do you want to do his will? Are things you desire to do and have getting in the way of doing God's will? Do you rationalize so you can achieve what you want? There is nothing wrong with having the desires it's how we handle them and their place in our lives. It's real easy to get consumed in desires and wants.

12:24-25
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
NIV

Those verses explain tons of principles. We must die to self. Not have desires and wants? No, but our wants and desires have to become so unimportant we recognise and receive Gods will for our lives. For me its hot rods, music etc. and not allowing those things to run or rule my life has been a tough battle most of my life. Weak as I am, God has shown mercy and taught his will through his Word. Passion perspective is us learning to control it, not the other way around.

Ephesians 5:1-2
Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
NIV

Remember Tracy's nana in the hospital...Sandy-breast lumps...Mike and Salena and the baby she is carrying...Mikes sister, unspoken...our brother in Christ, Kleb...Josh and Nicki&the boys...our church's...remember to lift the troops and our leaders...

Heavenly Father,
Lord help us to see your ways and to have courage to follow them Lord we lift those mentioned and ask for healing, wisdom and forgiveness. Lord we ask for your peace on us. Lord help us see your ways and rest in them. We want to serve and follow you but sometimes the world is hard and we fail. Forgive us and make it so clear the choices to be made. in Jesus name, amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? In this time on earth there are tons of doctrines and ideas that are indeed contrary to scriptural teachings. Deciphering which is which can become daunting because "feel good" philosophy well, feels good! Seemingly righteous ideas and endeavours make us "feel right" but it's better to gauge these things and ideas with scripture. Test it with the Word. Don't accept supposed new ideas on face value because they feel right. This goes on within our churches. Saddling us with rules that threaten to take away our salvation if we don't adhere is a sure way to tell.

Galatians 2:4
And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
KJV

Colossians 2:4
I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
NIV

Romans 16:17-18
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
NIV

Christ warned us. Paul warned us. There is lots of scripture about this subject. We really have to be careful of what we commit to our minds and heart. Is it scriptural? Is it in line with biblical teaching or does it just sound cool? This is a good one to remember;

2 Peter 2:19
They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity-for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.
NIV

Wow! Think about that! Tis so true. Read these;

Galatians 3:23-25
Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law.
NIV

Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
NIV

1 Peter 2:16
Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
NIV

Do you see the point? Christ has set us free. We are not judged by the law. By observing the law in it's entirety we do not earn our salvation or our freedom. It is by grace, a free gift so test all you see, hear, read with the spirit of God in the scriptures and resist enticements of the world. Everything in it's proper place man...
Remember Ken Peating's family, a fellow fire fighter who passed away...remember each other and to keep our minds safe from the bombardment of the world...

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for revealing your Word to us. Show us when folly comes at us. Lord we ask you grant us the wisdom that comes with reading your Word. Make it be so real we can't stop the wisdom in our life. Thank you for your blessings and help us see them when they come. Lord we lift Kleb and the Peating family to you. Lord we lift all the hurting people to you. Open our eyes and hearts Lord, in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning!How are we faithing? Man what interesting days this world gives us. Every day is an adventure and the wonderment of God is all around us. I say these things to encourage you and to help you look beyond your circumstances. I know that things seem overwhelming sometimes but God is in control. God will see you through because he promised he would. It wont always be easy and sometimes it will. It wont always go smoothly and sometimes it will. Jesus promised rest and peace for us. Even when you are up against it you are able to maintain your joy because the circumstance you are in is surmountable by our savior. Feel like everything is caving in? Feel like you are drowning in a sea of despair? Look to Jesus! The burden may not go away so if it doesn't, you will grow from it if you seek God and his wisdom and the lesson contained. It isn't always easy and you may have to work real hard at maintaining that perspective but you can. If I can, anyone can. Look at these next verses and think about what Paul is saying;

Colossians 1:9-14
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
NAS

Things that suck happen, sometimes it goes on and on and on. Things that don't suck happen and they go on and on and on. It rains on the good and the bad so why say, "woe is me"? Are you any different? Not really, you are redeemed if you believe and you are eligible for all of God's promises as a believer, adopted into his family therefore your end result is assured so why get in a dither over things that suck? You don't have to like it but don't give the other side the satisfaction of snatching your joy!

Philippians 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God.
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all you do for us! Help us remember that all the stuff that comes against us cannot take away our place in heaven. All the things tossed at us is futile because we know you love us and care. Lord help us hang on to the joy of your salvation and not forget where our joy comes from. Lord we thank you for your promises and your blessings. Help us see the good and rebuke the bad. in Jesus name, Amen

Good morning! How are we faithing? I made a decision this past week that I did not want to make. A choice was made that was necessary but made me say,"crap". Tough choices are made by us all the time and keeping our head straight and choosing what is best is very very hard sometimes. God tells us in his Word what to do and sometimes we don't understand. Think about choices we have made in the past. With hind sight we can see where we goofed and or where we made the right choices. Some were painful when made and some were painful when we did not. I have discovered that if I make a choice based on the Word of God, it is never is wrong. Painful sometimes? Yes. Hard sometimes? Yes. Make you cry out that you don't want to and for God to make it not so? Yep,but then reality and trust comes and we do what's right. Looky here;

John 14:15-18
"If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
NIV

The Holy Spirit, Counselor, spirit of truth, lives in us and shows the way. Jesus is here with us. So if tough choices are to be made, remember to pray specifically, expect an answer and be brave enough to follow Gods wisdom in his Word. Also remember that initial pain may be tons lighter than wrong choices made to avoid that pain...

Galatians 6:7-10
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
NIV

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all you do for us and the wisdom you show us in your Word. Lord we lift Kleb to you and ask you snatch him up. Lord please help us see and make the right choices in our lives. Lord we ask for wisdom and assurance that you are in charge and that we can trust you even when it looks bleak. Lord be with the troops and the commanders. Be with our kids and put your words in our mouths, help us recall your wisdom we have learned from your Word. Lord bless our hands and feet so we can do your will, in Jesus name, Amen

Great morning! How are we faithing? Beautiful days this week! A tad warm for me but the weather ain't made for me! Ha Ha! It is interesting to see how things like the weather effect people. I see some soaking it up and loving it. I see frowns and attitude from others. How we deal with something as simple as the weather says much about our character. Do you whine and complain when it doesn't suit you? Do you endure or make up your mind to press on and deal? Medical reasons aside, does the weather dictate your joy? Whether you are wet or dry, hot or cold, hungry or full, broke or solvent, full of energy or pooped, your joy should not be hampered. Oh it may wain a tad but what influences your joy in the Lord? Oh I am sure the people in the mid west with the tornadoes and the rain aren't real happy right now but is their joy in the Lord gone? Are they happy right now? Of course not! They need our prayers to cope with that mess. Remember the joy Jesus gives us even when the worlds stuff is heavy on you.

John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
NAS

John 15:9-12
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. NIV

See that? We ought to try to show that love and joy even when the weather does not suit us. Ask for strength when it's kicking your butt. Ask for that joy of the Lord to overflow regardless of our physical discomfort. Thank the Lord for everything because we know there is a purpose for all even if we don't see it.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all your blessings we receive from you. We ask you comfort and protect the people who are dealing with bad weather. Lord we want to count it all joy when things happen the way they do. Help us see where it is helping others when it is not helping us. Help us see the bigger picture. Lord we lift the people who are enduring tragedy from the weather. Lord comfort and show them your love. Lord we see the birth pains as the Word says increasing and we ask for your safe hands around us. Help us share your love with all we meet. in Jesus name, Amen
