I being a voulunteer I really appreciate it when people just come up to you at radom and thank you for all the hard work you do that really make me feel good (not to take away from any of the paid fire men out there) it really makes it all worth it when people realize that you are not only protecting the community but you have all the training that we have to do most of us work full time jobs and are trying to raise a family on top of all of this. One time I was at my goal and my thyroid went crazy and I gained 60 pounds so with meds and exercise I have to do it all over again. But keeping the faith. I saw the post that you put on 'Volunteer Firefighters' group page. Just out of curiosity: How many calls a year do you run between the two departments? Altho I have spent most of my vol. career in Florida, I did spend some time in Evansville,In. and I was a part of a station that ran few calls (by comparison)...So it is hard for me to concieve that in 2 years with 2 departments, you haven't seen a fatal wreck. NOT SAYING YOUR NOT TELLING THE TRUTH!!... It's just wild to think that there are some departments fortunate enouph not to deal with fatalities much. The Firefighter that said 'sweet' about the fatality...how long has he been in? Write back, brother. Laters and be safe.
