i've got to agree with jeff t. in my line of work i can't make the classes from mid april to 1st of december makes it tough to start and finish any class. say nothing aboput making any calls during that time of year except weekends.so in my dept. we train often. new members are offered the opportunity to enter ff1

I have come to realize that the deck is stacked against volunteer departments when it comes to the AFG. Volunteers don't all have the 140+ hours to take FFI, and now they are pushing for 100% FFII. What about the people that don't want to go into a burning building? The ones that want to work MVAs or pump the engines; are they of no value to FEMA? Don't they count? According tothe AFG application, they are a detriment to you in the process because they lower your % of "trained firefighters". Well, I for one think this is WRONG! They are just as valuable as "trained firefighters" because some one has to be outside the building. What are your thoughts?

We just ran our annual 5k run/walk fundraiser. This is our 3 year to do it. We made about 900.00 dollers after all expences, a little less than last year but it was in the black. I blame the ecomony for the low turn out and less money we made. We support our local fire fighters, and local cities.

The 911 Medical ID Card is a fantastic and very profitable fundraiser for your department. A great life saving tool your EMS will love. Raise some $$$, save some lives and help your community. Check out the FOX NEWS story (click here to watch)
