GARDINER, Maine (AP) -- A former volunteer firefighter accused of pulling over a motorist for tossing a cigarette butt out the window has lost his volunteer job as well as his job as a correction officer at the Maine State Prison.
Police say 20-year-old Gerald Michaud III of Gardiner was issued a summons this week for impersonating a public servant, a misdemeanor, and improper use of an emergency light.
Michaud is accused of using the red flashing light on the dashboard of his truck to get the woman to pull over. He allegedly told her he was an off-duty trooper and that he pulled her over for tossing a cigarette and for smoking with small children in the car.
Since he was in law enforcement, corrections officer and with limited powers, he should have used his radio/cell phone and alerted the proper LE within that jurisdiction. Just like reporting a crime similar to this by an off duty LEO. More then likely he had training for this. TCSS
