Well for volunteer departments, not having the proper tools to do the job. We still would like to have a Jaws of Life machine.

That's the feeling I often get, is that they're just there for the rush and getting to drive the big boy toys. I know some are there for more than that, but often that's the feeling I get from the majority. And you're right, I wouldn't be so concerned about it if it wasn't for their safety. Since I'm a chief officer, it comes back on me, my responsibility that everyone comes home after every run with all their parts and pieces in working order. If you stop and think about it, that's a big responsibility....
