Meadows... don't insult us just because we have a sense of humor and you're insecure about it.

This will not change what the public thinks and if it does, oh well. Washington, DC has about 1.5 million people here each day. Some love us, some hate us. Doesn't make me lose any sleep at night. I still get paid every two weeks.

It is supposed to be funny and all comedy has an ounce of truth to it. Is it bad that there are FD's out there like this sure, but maybe some of them will watch this, see themselves,get embarassed, and then try to make changes in their FD's.

Get a hold of yourself. Firemen have been made fun of since Moe, Larry and Curly were doing their routine in the 30's, if not sooner. The cops get made fun of (Keystone Kops). The Marines get made fun of (Gomer Pyle). The Wehrmacht gets made fun of (Hogan's Heroes). (Anyone with more contemporary examples, feel free to chime in). If you're embarrassed by it, that's on you.

Comment by Bob on February 16, 2011 at 10:47am: I am a call man on a fairly busy combination dept and I find it to bad that there are people out there which continously are poking fun at FF's whether vol, call, or career. The people which think this type of humor is the way FF's portray themselves should get a life. Even though it is meant to be funny there are TAX PAYER"S which would believe this is how we are. It is true I have seen vol, call, as well as career FF's do things that make me scratch my head, but should I go and make a video about it?

Comment by Oldman on February 14, 2011 at 10:02am: From a satirical standpoint, it way mildly amusing. The sad part is I have witnessed a few departments which are indeed as portrayed in this clip.

I've witnessed apparatus "drivers" climbing out of the cab wheezing and coughing. I've witnessed an apparatus pulling op and the driver didn't know how to operate the pump. And I have also witnessed a dozen or more POV's showing up on a working fire only to stand around waiting for the pumper to roll up with a driver only.

So it may be funny, but not so funny.
