Memorial Day, coming up on May 26, is not, as some may believe "the official kick off to summer".

Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day began in the Civil War era, when women would decorate the graves of the fallen soldiers. It was officially adopted as Memorial Day in 1966 by then President Johnson. The traditional Memorial Day is May 30, but it's fallen victim to those "Monday holidays" and is now the last Monday in May.

My wife is a nurse, working now for public health but before that in the local trauma center ER. If I can ever share information or be of assistance, please don't hesitate to give me a shout. Where are you located? I'm in Santa Barbara... : ) Stay safe, Mike

Hi Karen -

I'm exploring other volunteer organization structures and I'm curious to know more about how your county's MRC is organized, trained and deployed.

Any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Stay safe. Train often.
