G-XTREME Bunker Gear

Posted on February 21, 2009 at 3:38pm 8 Comments

My department is looking at purchasing G-XTREME bunker gear, I have some real concerns about the 32" coat length compared to the 35" coat length. If you wear this gear, what coat length do you wear and what are the pro's and con's to the lengths.

Thanks for your input.

In my humble opinioni, the 35" coat length has an important advantage. If you, like us, are required to wear a safety harness system, the longer coats will hang over the system. SHOULD you need the system, hike up the coat. If you are wearing the shorter coat, and don't need the bail out system, you might find it an impediment - it gets hooked up on paraphernalia as you move through a house, and if you have to remove your tank to low profile, the straps get caught up under the rope harness pack. In a black-out, with gloves, you can't find the tank straps to, which are stuck under the rope pack, to tank up more quickly --- or at all. That's my two cents!
