Hey All,
As many of you may already know, I volunteer for an organization called Hancock Hope which supports Fire Departments both Paid and Volunteer, as well as communities that are hit hard by natural disasters and where FEMA and the government fall short with funding and clean up.
Anyways, I got the call about 9am this morning (Saturday 8/30) from Dan Macakanja the president for Hancock Hope. He told me that they are assembling a team to leave next Saturday/Sunday and going to Pearlington, Mississippi to help with Hurricane relief from Gustav and possibly Hanna. We will be down there for 5-10 days assisting the West Hancock Fire Department. WHFD is an amazing department and it is such a story of a FD trying to survive after being through hell. Maybe I'll tell you about it some other time. But I just wanted to let you guys know that there are people going down and we'd love for your prayers and support. If anyone is interested in learning more about Hancock Hope just search for Dan Macakanja on FF Nation. On his site you can view his blog about the organization as well as contact information in which he can answer any of your questions.
Thanks Guys and stay safe,
-Runx
