Hey all it's been a long time since I've posted a blog because I've been busy with things these past few months. I'm sure you remember me being really excited for the possibility of being a paid Fire-fighter for the city of Schenectady NY. I'm sorry to say that even though I did get offered a position within the Schenectady city FD's ranks, I turned it down, due to the fact that at the same time I interviewed with the city's FD, I was also getting a 2nd interview for a job I applied for in the…

Hey Guys,
Sorry it's been a while since I was on and have forgotten to up-date you guys on the whole City of Schenectady paid position. Unfortunately, I had to turn the position down for the following reasons; I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak and so I applied to another job around the same time the City of Schenectady was conducting interviews.
The other j0b was as a Logistics Coordinator with Compassion International. I'm sure you've all heard of…

Just an Up-Date no confirmation as of yet. I have an interview tomarrow @ 11:30am with the City of Schenectady Fire Department. I'm hopefull but nervous as all hell. I don't want to get too excited because I know I'm way down on the list-so I'm going into this thinking of it as just a formality. I really want it but at the same time I know I could just as easily not get it. Well I'll get back to you guys later.
Thanks and God Bless,
-Scotty Runx

OK, All I got to say is that within the last couple of days McCain has gone out of his way, at his own rally, instead of talking about the issues, he has tried to reduce the tension by his supporters toward his opponent. If anything McCain respects Senator Obama, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to speak the truth. Yes both sides have been conducting "Attack" ads-but McCain is getting the brunt of the backlash especially being called a racist simply because his "attack"ads are attacking his…

Well first I want to thank you all for your warm words of encouragement-I do appreciate them, I just hope that I as get closer to my dad's age, that I will turn into a a jaded individual and loose my love for Free Speech which includes sharing your faith-whatever that maybe.
Dad, there is no one more for Freedom of Religion in this country then me. But with this freedom comes the ability to voice, share, and speak about what it is you believe in. I have had to fight this very same issue…

I consider myself somewhat a loyal Republican, so I must admit when I first read about Obama's choice of VP nominee as Joe Biden-I started to wonder if the Republicans could make a just as strong and bold move with McCain's nominee who, this time last week, was still up in the air, with a few front-runners.
I must confess, that even though he is a Dem, Joe Biden is one hell of a choice for the DNP (Democratic National Party). I am quite young so I wasn't around when Joe Biden…

Hey All,
As many of you may already know, I volunteer for an organization called Hancock Hope which supports Fire Departments both Paid and Volunteer, as well as communities that are hit hard by natural disasters and where FEMA and the government fall short with funding and clean up.
Anyways, I got the call about 9am this morning (Saturday 8/30) from Dan Macakanja the president for Hancock Hope. He told me that they are assembling a team to leave next Saturday/Sunday and going…

Hey All,
In case you don't know, from June to September every year I work up at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) located in upstate NY, as an Emergency Medical Technican. I'm sure if many of you have ever seen an outside concert in Upstate NY @ a outside venue-you've prolly have been to SPAC. It is the largest, nicest outdoors concert facility around. It has been around since the late 1950's I think. SPAC has brought many famous bands like: Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Dave…

Hey All,
So I'm going to continue with answering your questions about the little Hamlet that is...Alplaus! Many of you have asked what are fire district encompasses: what kind of buildings we have, what we respond to, how many trucks we have, how many members we have, etc.
So Alplaus Fire Department is a part of the Town of Glenville Fire District, District #2 is our actual town identifier. The Town of Glenville is made up of 7 Fire Departments: Beukendaal, Glenville Hill, West…

Hey All,
Well I figured I should write a blog-since I haven't written one since I joined. Most of you have been asking me question where I live in relationship to NYC and what the history of the Hamlet of Alplaus is so I thought I'd fill y'all in.
First I live in a little Hamlet called Alplaus, which is originated from the Dutch word "Al-Plats" which means place of EELS-because where the Alplaus creek meets the Mohawk River there are tons-well not as many as the 1700's, but…
