I had a killer week so yesterday I took advantage of the quiet morning and decided to sleep in. At 9:40 a.m. I heard my pager from two rooms away asking for all members to report to their respective stations for hydrant duty at 10. My days have been spent lately packing up my home, taking care of my kids' needs, and looking for a job. I wish I had more time to look for a job. I went to a seminar at the Career Center Tuesday at NJ Employment and the instructor told us a whopping fact - actually two facts:
1-Most employers look through thousands of resumes; and
2-Many more employers are submitting positions to NJ Employment to save on a recruiting… Continue

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter
I heard some sad news yesterday. There was a house fire in a neighboring town and a resident died and two firefighters were hurt. A few of us were talking about it later that day and someone said something I didn't know. Keep something in your wallet that if you are hurt you want to go to a particular hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and firefighters.

Ho Ho Ho!
This is Tuesday, right?

Yesterday was a busy day for us Morris Twp volunteers. Our pancake breakfast was a HUGE success. I mean HUGE. The weather towards the end was icy rain but it didn't stop over 270 people from coming to the breakfast. And of course a picture with Santa always helps!

Well, my driveway was just plowed at 1:00.
I worked from home today.

Well, I survived our firehouse's election of officers. I was voted in as secretary which makes sense because of my love affair with my laptop. However, I have roughly 26 days to get over my stage fright which includes reading minutes, correspondence, and roll call in front of 50 people.
No antidepressant works that good I can tell you that.

Yesterday I was at the firehouse when a call came in. I made a big blunder. But in fairness to all of us rookies out there...HOW THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF NO ONE TELLS ME? LOL
I didn't know that sitting in the front is a no-no and one that I didn't know (no pun intended).
This is something I will not forget.

Remember like 2 weeks ago I wrote that I had the courage to tell someone something?
Well, it was my husband.
We finished that conversation on Thanksgiving night.
We are separating.
At least now I don't have to ask permission to go on a fire call.

Here it is, Friday the 13th, and I can't stop thinking that this day has to be a good one. My week at the fire service was slow with only two calls I believe. Anyway, I didn't feel so well and would have had to stay back anyway.
