DID YOU HEAR

Look at me closely, what do you see?
Is there anything different from anyone else in me?
Do you see fatigue in my eyes?
The smudges on my face,
tell you I've just come from a terrible place.
Where ashes are still smoldering, smoke continues to rise?
There is pain for innocent people,
I don't bother to disguise.
I'm devoted to saving other peoples' things and my friend,
let me tell you, I'm not for gain.
I don't get paid for this deed that I do
but it makes my day,
knowing I've helped save a child or two.
From losing their home and
all they love and
maybe being sent to heaven above.
I want you to know
you can count on me, to do all I can,
