BRADY TOWNSHIP, HUNTINGDON COUNTY -- Flames engulf a barn in Huntingdon County, and we have unconfirmed reports that a number of dogs may have died in the blaze. The fire broke out around 1:00 PM Wednesday. It happened along Route-655 in Brady Township, Huntingdon County. The fire destroyed a barn, several smaller shed buildings, and two kennel buildings. One eyewitness told us no one was home at the time. An Amish family apparently owns the property, and lives in the house nearby. The fire was so hot, it melted siding on one side of the structure. The eyewitness says he was the second person on scene and began rescuing dogs from the barn and kennel area. He says the family had about fifty dogs, and tell us as many as twenty may not have survived the fire. Battling the blaze involved a great deal of water. There are no hydrants nearby, and so firefighters had to bring water to the scene. A convoy of engines and tankers dropped water for crews on the front line.
