Captain for a small volunteer dept., with 15 members active. We respond to about 125 calls a year, 75% EMS, 15% MVC, 10% Fire.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS

My father was a volunteer firefighter when I was young, and it always thrilled me to see him go to calls. When I finally settled to an area, I figured I would give it a try. I love firefighting, and EMS also. I currently am a volunteer Captain, and an NREMT-I.

Top Issues Facing Responders:

Firefighter safety while responding to calls. This is a problem that is growing, and really needs to be adressed at the department level with strict rules about response.
