I've been recently reinstated as a Captain so that a new recruit could be added to the roster. I forgot a lot of my training ideas and lost the book that I would right them down in. Any ideas?

Television is a portrayal of things and the line between real and created
has been blurred so much it is hard to tell fact from fiction. Even the recreations (ala Rescue 911) were not quite complete. Bottom line watch
but don't follow unless you know to be true from a few sources.

There are no stupid questions. You may think you know it all but believe me you don't I have been around the Fire Service since 1971 and I am still learning.

When I got in I had a steel helmet, rubber roll up boots, rubber coat and the Orange rubber gloves. Training was going to my first fire.

I have been advocating or passing knowledge along to younger members and hope this will be a great way to spread it further. I do want to say a few things to the newbies out there: Listen to us old geezers, we may say something that will save your butt some day.
Don't always do everything we do, ask why we do it and if it makes sense then ask someone else to show you how to do it.
The things that are really stupid should remain in the past, anotherwords do NOT copy bad practices!
Learn from anywhere you can, other depts, training facilities, online and
textbooks.
ASK QUESTIONS! You learn by finding out why things are done a certain way. My dept will not do things the same way as yours and finding out why we do it differently may save you some time on a mutual aid call.

Use this group for generic answers to questions and to get opinions from
young and old alike. It is YOUR group!!
