The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

What was the on scene plan of attack?
What was happening with explosive components?
Exposure to other structures?
Where you working to protect them?
How many trucks and crew were you using?

And can I just say ALWAYS DO UP ALL OF YOUR GEAR PROPERLY - i made that mistake a few times ONLY - when I first became a fire fighter - I would not fully get my collar done up properly - and not only frost bit my cheeks and chin and neck, but slightly burned them twice as well... After that I don't care who is trapped - I AM DOING UP ALL OF MY GEAR PROPERLY FOR THE EXTRA 5 SECONDS THAT IT TAKES ME!!!

After that, it was basically pointing out the red stuff to the team on the hose until a wrecker came and pulled the two vehicles out.

After flushing the hydrant and securing and charging the LDH, I got masked up and helped tear off the overhead doors.

I am proud of you for ASKING the wife - however, when you have 3 fire within a 72 hour period over lets say a Christmas holiday when the house is all pretty and full of holiday guest - she will be less patient with you and will want you to have another system in place for managing your gear... I'm just sayin...

if you assist your EMS, be careful of getting the "bodily functions" (and Im not talking the good kind.. hee heee ) on you, you dont want that stench going through the house, the wife will become a very unhappy wife, very fast, if ya have to bring your gear home, and cant leave it at the station, think of hosing off before you leave the station, or hanging it in the garage if its heated out there

What did you learn on scene - what was different from practice than real life?

So Ernie - WHAT DID YOU DO ON SCENE - exactly - blow by blow?
