The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Gosh it is getting late and I am needing to get to bed soon. I enjoyed chatting with you both !!! Like experiencing both ends of the spectrum at the same time - the rookie and the seasoned vet (izzy)... interesting conversation...

Good memories and bad memories are flooding me now.

That is why I have it hanging...the Chief made that point pretty clear when he issued the gear to me. He mentioned how he had seen some of the FFs pull gear out of their bags on scene and they were moldy and decayed from just putting them away after every call instead of allowing them to dry first!!

Ernie - you may just end up with no gear for a few days OR you may end up having to take your gear somewhere special to be properly cleaned OR you may have to use some special treatment on your gear, etc. etc.

There is not usually extra gear just laying around. But most importantly whoever is in charge of your gear - maybe your training officer? - keeps track of gear in use, damaged, destroyed, and in need of ordering...
