The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

I am sure they will get more help than they could imagine...this community is pretty good for that and this lady has worked with the public for quite a few years.

yes - protect yourself works in theory

been when you are physically WATCHING children and people in danger - that reality confronts you heart and soul...

Will definitely try to Izzy.

Those were the main things that the daughter mentioned and she figures that she will have to use the money she has saved for college to help get her mom back up and going.

grant you, most times, if the scene isn't secure, you dont go in, but...... there's always that chance that someone will come at you, unprovoked, and those classes will teach you some stuff, especially having to deal with anyone that might come after you with a knife, etc. or god forbid, someone laying, and having a knife hidden, and in a flash, they slash at you.

I have NO QUALMS of knocking something like that out of their hands, sitting on their chests, etc. not pretty , but..... thats why i always say I havent had a good fight in a while.

and always be careful with drunks, they can turn on you quick as look at you

weapons in the patien compartment - lead to problems if the patient suddenly becomes combative - which is common - and often unexpected

search inner thighs and ankles and inside boots too

good - teach those on your dept

hell - vermont is country - no where is immune

thank goodness thats all she lost. Im quite sure people will pull together and help her out with what she needs.

no Heather, I never trust them, usually don't believe them,

I wont mess with people's weapons though, unless they are critical,
I have a cop take it and secure it.

Ernie , if ya ever get a chance to take a class on dealing with that kind of stuff, protecting yourself, etc. take it. well worth it.
