Sounds like our regular FD training in a few days will be a smoke machine in an old building here in town that has the top story still set up as a hotel from many years ago. Besides the simulated IDLH atmosphere, sounds like we will also get to force some doors as well (guess keys have been lost over the years).

They just set up an obstacle course in the clubroom today and covered our masks with backwards hoods...no rescue, but got to work in teams to get a feel for doing it...and we could still see...hoods don't block out much light.

yep, blindfolded works. its tough though, doing it like that.

have ya gotten to do the search and rescue with the blackened out masks yet?

Might have to try a few times blindfolded to see if I can get the zipper to work easier for me, have been having quite a time trying to get it lined up right on this Globe G-Xtreme coat.

ahh, but Ernie , thats the whole reason to get better at it, losing only once or twice, and believe me, you wont do it again.. LOL

we used to do ours for beer afterwards... LOL.... I only had to pay once.
and boy, did it tick off the other guys once I wasn't the one paying anymore... they would get furious.... even tried cheating a time or two,
because ,,

since Im such a "lady" about the whole thing, I never passed up the opportunity to rub it in that they were beat by a woman.....
