The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

LOL, hey, I used to talk to newbies in EMS, and I would say to them, "so, what made you want to become an EMT" it was usually because they wanted to help people, I would look them dead in the eye, chuckle, and say " yeah, right. blow that smoke up someone else's a$$, you're in it for the adrenaline, the traumas and the gore, you're a trauma junkie just like the rest of us, who you kidding"

my old Chief out here, rotten man that he was, I always said that sure, I would treat him if he went down, under certain conditions, if he were unconscious, of course, you do everything you can, if he's conscious, I'll still do everything in my power and knowledge for him, but would use a 14, and make sure I had trouble finding the vein. LOL

You know, you are making this fun Izzy. I know I want to try for EMT-B, but it will soon be for all the wrong reasons...LMAO

I'd be more than happy to give you some solutions to problem pts, and you can pass on any that you like.

oh, its gratifying to be able to do that. especially the drunks who are violent, or the overdoses. LOL. there are some really creative ways of "subdoing" them. LOL. I've always liked a good fight, once in a while, but ya start swinging at me? oh no, I dont think so. and give my partner a hard time? oh hell no. LOL. Another of my favorites, is when they are spitting and trying to bite and fight, they get a c-collar, and it gets taped down to the cot.

might have to bring that up to the ambulance crew though...LMAO

That would be interesting to see...LOL...not the fighting and biting of the medic though. It is just BLS here, so wouldn't be doing any IV work at all.

ya know, seeing those miranda rights, I think the best thing I've ever got to to do, having to deal with idiot fighting pts, was , well, along with the large bore IV's, and having to "dig" a little bit to find the vein, was making them a long spine board press. LSB on the cot, pt, on his face, onto said LSB, another LSB on top of him, and strap that sucker down. this is what happens when you fight, and try to bite the nice medic. LMAO

We didn't have much for houses completely under water but had numerous miles of roads and farms completely under water and/or washed out. The NWS Spring Flood Outlook doesn't spread any good news about this year either...

oh, thats terrible. it was bad here 2 yrs ago. road leaving town looked like you were driving a causeway to barrier islands on the coast. and what was supposed to be there were farmfields. poor guy up the road a piece, he parked his truck near the road, and you'd see him get in his boat, to be able to get to his house. they were like that for 2 months. in town here wasn't too bad, but where I work, it was awful, river flooded, and many houses were 9 feet under.
