The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Im pretty sure I still have those books and blocks somewhere around here. my guys were the best. they knew that no one could mess with my boys, I got worse than a mama bear with her cubs, I never had any problems with them, and when I started moving up in ranks, I never had a respect issue, and I was a good sport about it all, I took whatever they dished out, but they also knew that paybacks were a b_tch.... LOL

and out here, I was given the gift of one of those aluminum rescue ladders, and they offered to install it at the drivers side seat, so I wouldnt have to take a runner, and jump into the rig. LOL

when i was still back east, and got my driver certs, well, I go into the radio room one day, and on my console, is a beautifully wrapped gift, they found the firefighter wrapping paper, nice bow. whole nine yards, as I open the box, inside lies 2 phone books, very nicely and precisely duct taped together, and 2 wooden blocks, you know, the kind we used to play with as kids? with the ropes on them, that you would put your feet on, and walk around with? well, they were my gifts for being the driver. LMAO. they were afraid I couldnt reach the pedals.

Don't worry about that one...it is pretty tough for most of us to reach the hooks to hang our masks on without stepping on the rim or ledge of the bed...LOL.

from the beginning, I would not let them change standards for me. nope. not happening. and I've always been that way. will do everything that is supposed to be done , and once I became an officer and even a chief, I would never have my guys do anything that I wouldnt do. its kind of comical to see someone so short with that size ladder. its even funny to see someone so short, trying to pull the dummy thats 6ft, doing the "Challenge" drills. LOL. I still get teased about not being able to reach some of the tools in the upper part of the compartments in the engine.

The wife took her ex down as well...it was supposed to be a kick in the butt, however, he paused for a second and it landed...ummmm...elsewhere.

That would have been quite a site to behold Izzy...I am almost in tears myself...LMAO!!

oh, it was. we laughed so hard, Howie was the instructors name, dont remember his last name, but he was laughing so hard, there were tears rolling down his cheeks. I mean, and I tried, I just could not get my leg up far enough, I got my foot on the windowsill, but my legs aren't long enough to get enough of me close enough, to get onto the sill. and he just picked me up. LMAO.... we were cryin' from laughing. but Im also one that could take down my ex, he was 6 ft and 250 lbs.
