The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Very true on the longevity...LOL...normally the front of the vehicles rust out first out there (salt in the air, at least on the coast).

It will probably look like Greek or something, but I just found a page that describes your code and some of the possibile issues associated with it...http://www.obd-codes.com/p0420

I don't know if trying to smog check it FIRST will do damage. I think they hook up a machine to the exhaust pipe and then check function in that manner - but I think it puts pressure on the parts of the muffler system - so I don't know if it will blow something apart and do more damage.

Since I have lived here I have not had problems with my muffler yet - unlike in Vermont where mud and salted roads eat your muffler parts quickly - here mufflers last much longer.

Yeah, I remember the smog checks (which I was referencing) from before we moved back here and they were a pain in the a** then...LOL!!

If I had a way out there Heather, I'd definitely give it a shot!! Haven't been out there for a LONG time.

Justin- Glad to hear you dodged them, we haven't started with those up here...yet...

yes ironically, my car has to pass a smog inspection in the next month to register it again this year... soI have to fix it fairly quickly... plus I have no idea if it is dangerous to drive ???

Tough call on these newer cars Heather, but my first guess would lean towards one of the O2 sensors...really hard to say without hooking up a scanner and getting an idea where to start.
