yes Kyle - YOU are NOT really a FF - until you start your own house on fire...

and you are NOT a seasoned vet - until you have started your own FD on fire... or at least came pretty damn close...

lol - kyle that is too funny

one day when I came back from a call as I was parking the engine in the bay, I realized that the garage seemed to be filling with electrical burning like smoke...

so I jumped out of the truck, mid-parking - to figure out what had been happening in our FD garage bay while we had been at a call for the last 45 minutes

and low and behold the electric garage bay door opener on the ceiling was on fire - had some random issue had charred the ceiling and was doing a good bit of smoking... thank god that was it... and we were not gone for any longer to a call...

most of our crew was still on scene - so I had to "call" and invite a few of them to expedite their little hineys back to the station ...

I did not want to tell them over the open air-ways that their own FD was on fire (or parts of it at least)... but apparently by the tone of my voice & and my 2nd request - most of them wrapped up on scene and came on back to the garage bay "for a secret reason"

lol - boy did I hear about that for MONTHS... endless months (ok, years) as though... I... had started the damn fire...

when indeed I really just opened the door to leave with the truck... and closed the door behind me with the remote... then opened the bay door with the remote to re-park the truck...

but ... guilt by association - since I was the last person to 'use the door' and said 'electric ceiling door opener' I got a rash of sh***t for starting my own FD on fire... lol...

at least I did not just park the truck and leave the bldg - lol - that would have sucked, since the last guys off the scene were about 1 1/2 hours out - I got released early just to return the engine to the station, instead of sitting along the highway with 3 other trucks...

so really - shouldn't I get credit for SAVING the FD from burning down ???

hmm...

ooo Kyle - glad you are ok...

seems like you live right in the middle of some serious storms these days

CA has pretty steady boring weather most of the time, and while I miss seasons, I don't necessarily miss all the storms...
