The Backroom Crew

This is a place where we can sit down, put our feet up and chill. Where the Boys and Girls can just be themselves. The Back Room or what most firefighters call a ''day room or rec room'' is the social point of every firehouse.

Sarah, remember one of the most important rules in ANY service - R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Teachers may be pains sometimes, however - they are still "the boss" in that classroom. Treat them accordingly, and then, like Heather says, come here and let loose. You do not want your firefighting traning to come to a screeching halt for some infraction that came about because you were pissed off.

You strike me as a neat young lady; one who is really pulling it all together. Keep it on the positive side and when you need to vent; just wander on in here ... we won't flunk you or give you grief (well, maybe not too much!)! Hang tough little sister!

Sarah girl - maybe you need to call your teacher - or go to class early... and apologize for how you said what you said... and tell your teacher your friend died and this has been a stressful week for you and you did not mean to react so rudely in class - maybe that will win you some grace with her.

We all need to be careful that when we are sad or hurt or angry about something in life, we are careful not to let it explode elsewhere in life.

Be strong girl. I have faith in you. We all say things we regret sometimes and do things we wish we could take back... Life gets easier as we get older, because we really do have more power to say what is on our minds... but hopefully we have also all learned to regulate what we say and often just share our deepest thoughts with those closest to us...

I feel better though.

I no longer feel like yelling, I just stay quiet.

p.s. even the great Chiefs on here hold their tongues A LOT... and commonly that makes them GREAT !!!

A Chief that runs around town getting into fights with everyone who has a complaint or gripes or yells at them - will not be Chief for long - since she/he will be seen as weak and easy to fall under pressure...

Sarah - girl - it is not about shutting up - it is about timing...

Calmly make your point - if it is your time to speak... attacking a teacher, even verbally - even if you are right - could get you expelled... then all hell will break lose at home...

The fire department would consider you losing your temper at school with an authority figure... as a prediction of your future on the fire department - where you could lose your temper with the fire fighters as your authority figures... do you see what I mean !!!

We all have lots of people we want to cuss out - the key is timing!

In the great words of Kenny Rogers in his song "The Gambler" - "you got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them and know when to walk away and know when to run."

So next time - run to us and tell us what the hell someone did to piss you off - INSTEAD of publically chewing them out !!! (probably)
