Just searching online and stumbled on this group. It's so funny reading all the comments because I can relate to so many of them :) Glad to find somewhere to go to bounce ideas back and forth.

I'm the 1st female on my dept (just started fulltime 3 months ago...volly for 3 years prior) The guys are great but sometimes they just don't get it ;) Anyways just wanted to say 'hello' and glad I found the group!!

I can so realate to the slipping helment. My helment has slipped off or slide down a few times. Im trying to find compy boots to. My bunker pants are a good fit, they are mens, but the are fuller and they fit better.

i will also get the exact type of boots i have they are just plain rubber boots but they are comfey and fit really well. my chief had to find a size small enough for my feet and plus ones that would be of geed quality. i love them too! and they are quite well fit for being rubber boots

im tellin ya the carns 1010 or 1044 are the absoloute best i have found and esp. with the defender shield it works great and i have never had it fogg up, plus they won't get scratched etc. and they provide far more eye protection than any other even including some safety glasses

i can relate to the halmet always slipping etc. oi went to breach a wall for ff1 and that damn thing came off even fully packed and tightened all the way with the chin strap on, thats how big my old helmet was. and unsafe!... i LOVE my new helmet

Thanks, y'all. All this info is really helpful. Especially the helmet data. I sued to have to take cotten towels, cut them in strips and stuff the headband inside my helmet to make it fit. Really sucked. Wow I'd live to go to FDIC in April. I'm gonna try to get the time off for that. As far as bunker gear is concerned i have just come to the realization that is just ain't flattering LOL. Especially when it's new and you glow in the dark and look like a rookie LOL. Anyway, let's all keep this dialog going, it is wonderful. I'll have to get my daighter to provide some input as well, she's been on almost 7 yrs. She has helmet issues too. Thanks! Be safe!

My bunker pants are Janesville- they are supposed to be "specially made" for "womens bodies". If you ask me, the mens sizing actually fits better. They are fuller in the hips, but smaller in the waist. This can be problematic if you have anything besides workout shorts on when you bunk out. As for the helmet issues- I'm glad to see I'm not alone there! The only time it "holds" well is when fully packed out. When I was practicing & testing for my relief drivers cert it would slip off often when pulling the supply line off the hosebed. I kinda just accepted it as a cross to bear, lol!

I am with you Amanda. Getting gear that fits is really rough. My last FD actually had my Bunker gear custom made so that worked fairly well. gloves are a problem, especially if you are a small female (I'm 5'2"). I did find great leather fire boots that fit great, they are Globe. Steel shank & toe, but fit like a really comfortable boot and had good ankle support which the reg rubber fire boots don't have at all. My biggest problem is getting helmets that fit. I wear an sz 6 1/2 hat and helmets never fit correctly. Now back to bunker gear that doesn't fit but am working on it. lol On a new Dept now. we need to stick together on this subject. My daughter is a FF as well and has some of the same problems.
