Just joined the volunteer department in my area. It is traditionally men. There have been a few women over the years but not permanent members. This is what kept me off for so many years. Wish me luck. At this time there is one other lady but she doesn't appear to be active but maybe just keeping an EMT active.

I am super excited to be finally on a department. I have wanted it for so long. Living my life through first an ex husband on the department and then my son. IT IS MY TURN!

Just want to say one thing!!! Americas Female Firefighters ladys Rock. Also if any of the FDIC Americas Female Firefighters Calendar Ladys are on here look me up, My first years was 2004 and still going back for the training and see the show, Stay Safe.

I Love the work field of the brotherhood.. its a tough one, not for all. I am the only female on my department took me a while to prove myself but now I am one of them. We are all family here and a rough bunch for that matter. They are more protective over me then my own brothers. So hats off to all the other women in our line of duty!

Good week at the firehouse so far... Officer I practicle complete, new Engine arrived and busy mounting equipment, calls and training like crazy, and opening day Department Team softball tomorrow! I hope the rest of the week goes as smooth! Hope everyone is doing good! Stay safe sisters!

Hello Sisters, although I am not female, I wanted to pop in and say 99.9% of the females in my department work just as hard as any male. Thanks Lani. I have to deal with crying in the firehouse! ugh. I just keep reminding myself that actions on the job speak louder that acts in the firehouse.
