Hi everyone, I've recently come back to volunteer firefighting after 20 years in Melbourne where it wasn't feasible. I'm now in a major regional centre in central Victoria, Australia. Our area contains quite a lot of high risk urban interface, though most of our area is structural.

Great group and thread. I'm a volunteer here in Eureka UT but our wildland season is every bit as busy as any of our structure calls. And can last alot longer!

A variety there Michael!
I'm in a suburban brigade with no real wildfire risk of our own, but we're on third call for one of the worst urban interface places in the country. Being part of a State-wide fire service, we can be sent on support all over the place. Interstate as well.

This is a quiet group, but such is life ;o) In the latter half of the winter fire season, summer season isn't until November, and we've been lucky in that it's been a fairly quiet season, I hope the summer is just as quiet!

This is a quiet group, must still be fire season. Who in here is pure wildland, urban/wildland, and structure with wildland responsibilities? I worked for a state agency urban/wildland. Primary equipment was Type 3 and 4 engines, tenders, tractors (dozers), and ground pounders. Local stations provided structure support. Supervisor and patrol vehicles were either Hum-Vee or pickups. Air attack was by contract as was fire detection. Worked our district and state until about June then traveled to "wherever" for the rest of the fire season. Had the pleasure of working 11 states on fires ranging from Type 3 to the Type 1 campains.

I would likek to trade some wildland fire patches. I am looking for state fire control, helitack and hotshot fire patrches. I have British Columbia and other patches to trade. I can send pics of the ones I have and vis versa. I would love some from Australia and across Canada and the US

Northern Australia is just starting its Wildfire (Wildlands) fire season. Yet the start of another bizzy 5 to 6 months.
