I am 6'10" and have a size 40 inseam.

I was just curious because I have walked into ceilings in some of the smaller houses in my community. My Chief hates to order my bunker gear because the factory calls back over and over again to make sure they are making the right size. And last but not least, it is hard as hell to find clothing, station uniforms and boots that fit me.

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or something similar to it, or is it just me?

When I first started into the field, my first pair of bunker pants was shorter than shorts it seemed. I always got the going to a flood? question. I couldnt even go interior because when I would be on my knees my boots and legs were exposed to the elements. I was so glad when I got my correct fitting gear. Even though it took them 9 months just to make me a set of bunker pants.
i always get stuck with the highrise pack too!!! i don't know why...but i do! you have the same stuff in your highriise pack as we do in ours.
I'm 6'6" and had a new guy that was about 5'6" that laughed when every I hit my head on things or got stuck try to go through our confined space maz. Then we got our new ARFF rig and we had to put a step ladder on it just for him.

Who got the last laugh!!

"Vertically challenged" come in all sizes. LOL
We have a guy in my department who is 6'8". He has the same problem with some older houses. But he does come in handy sometimes. We call him our portable forcible entry tool. Whenever we encounter a locked door and he's on the ground it's "Joe put you foot on this door" and in it goes. He drawfs he little girl. She's only like 1'10". It's really fun when he carries her around on his sholders.
nothing to be ashamed about.. im 6'5" and well, its close calls for me as well..one can truely understand the clotheing issue but those 15 boots.. man do they hit home $$ wise...be safe, dry, and comfortable..
I'm 6'9" , 316 18 1/2neck 52 chest 38 waist now 37inseam,16 Warringtons oh my sleeve lengths the same as my inseam, Being asigned to an Engine now doeesnt seem to fit so well , I have shift picture of my company , and I am sitting on the trashline front bumper and am taller sitting down then the other guys standing up....When I started (1975) one boot manufacturer "Made" me a pair of size 15 3/4's took 16 months I wore them for about 14 years, when Servus decided to try them since some size14's just werent cutting it for many in cold weather... So I am claiming to have been the biggest foot of my generation...lol Globe and Morning pride have geared me up, In fact we just recieved newgear, OurGlobe Bib pants fitme well, Ioved them...but the coat was tight in the shoulders doing what we do.... whenwe recieved our "Tailored"
Morning prides (FDNY style) I found the pantsfelt looser in the crotch, which is good, but the legs RIDE way up and even over the boots while in the rig, sitting so they went back...the Coat whenit finally was delivered is great in the shoulders and sleeves and has enough tail/waist tonot ride up....Face it , YOU cant get tailor fitting through mail order .... When i was transfered to the engine, upon they're closing my truck, MY Partner was 5'6" and bout 130 soaking wet, He packed hose up in the bedand I always got the tailboard, we worked out fine as a pair, I was always stuffing him in some kneewall, or crawlspace, I remember the day he had a 6'hook and I used him holding the hook to open the ceiling when the Chief came in an told us to open a bit more up, well into overhaul, the gang got a good laugh out of that one.... I've not had many issues with my size , other then some of the attic areas that are limited due to kneewalls close to the stairon several of our older homes Over the years Youtend tobe much more aware of the space you take up.... Doing the maze trailer (habatrail) I lead my partner and when I came to the up and down,I went up, had to close hatch one to open hatch 2.. leaving him under hatch 1, he knew we werent supposed to split up, so began freaking out..lol the instructors were having a ball, as i twisted and managed to turn , going down feet first, then turning again to contiinue forward, MY partner realizesd once hecalmed down enough to realize what I'd just done.... then I went through the pipe, turned and he was having trouble , sop I reached back . grabbed his chest and yanked , he exited the trailer like a human cannonball....lol but again we all had a good laugh
Well I dont feel tall now lol. I'm 6'4" 330lbs, 54" chest and 20" neck, 37" sleave. We have custom fit Morning Pride and my gear fits like a glove. The woman that does our gear does awsome work. The only thing I had to have her fix was the location of the knee pads. When I am crawling they are kind of shin guards. My Class A uniform was enough of a hassle though. I needed one shirt size but the sleaves of another.....still dunno why it took so long to get in. Ahh well.

LMAO at Jenna's comment though. The Jaws are bigger then me lol
You aren't alone. I'm 6'5'' and around 250 lbs. I'm the bull in the china shop. But Thats ok, because if there is ever any thing to be forced, I'm the first they call
I'm just the opposite of everyone else here, I'm 5'4 and my gear is a little big for me. I had to have the suspenders on my pants shortened up a bit, and the sleeves of my coat are a little to long so I kinda look like a little kid wearing dad's gear. Where you big amazon looking guys get the high rise packs and the forcible entry, I always get stuck going in the attic and all those other tight spots. At least I can stand up in the truck to get my gear on!
TRY BEIN 6'3 AND WORKING IN THE BACK OF A AMBULANCE ALL DAY.
Well, me and my brother or both 6'2", difference is, he's 280 pounds of muscle, and just turned 16 today. and yes, finding gear for him was damn near impossible at our station (small station, 2 squads, 2 pumpers, 1 rescue, tanker brushtruck and ATV) and about 13 active members currently (those would be the ones that actually go to calls, meetings, training sessions). He is currently waiting on boots, and a jacket that fits him properly. Yah it is tough getting equipment and what not, but like any department, we just keep trucking along, doing the best we can with what we got, till we get better.
Lol... I am not as "oddly" sized as you are, but I ALWAYS get stuck with the highrise bag too... I'm usually Junior man in the station, and junior man takes the heavy crap. The only time it was a real issue was the night we climbed 10, then 6, then 16... 16 was actually easier... realizing we were stairwell sector and forgot the bolt cutters really sucked!!! hahaha!!

As for odd sizing. I saw below about boobs and hips, well I don't really have boobs (although I should... lol), but I still take a 40 coat (I'm in a 44 right now because they JUST ordered my new gear). I have a big muscular back. Pants are a 34, even though I'm a 30 waist. I have to say bunker gear is the only stuff I have that actually is easy to fit into!! hahaa... Shirts and pants are what's hard for a muscular chick!! lol
