Ok you get issued a number when you join your department of course the chief is usually 101 asst. 102 and so forth 101-109 on our dept. is for officers  after that the numbers really dont matter. I noticed on other departments it may be different how does it work on yours? I am 102.

On ours the ambulances are 101 thru 109 then trucks 110 thru 117 then chief and officers 118 thru 123 and then firefighter only from 124 thru 159 and ems only from 160 thru 199 and anyone that is both fire and ems is any ems or fire number. I am 140
It's because many just don't bother to read anything already posted,

That really does sum it up. Can't tell you how many threads out there where it is quite obvious posters failed to even read replies before posting.....if anything just to see if what they were going to mention, was mentioned.

Perhaps it is time for a hijack of the thread....
Family website my A$$! This is supposed to be a firefighter's website, not a children's website!
chiefs rig is command 300 and we go up from there, he is 301 the officers are up to 309 then its miss matched from there on personal and all our diffrent apperatis. my personal number is 320
This is why I'm here, to gain such valuable information as is found in this post! NOW I can be a gooder firemans.
Worst topic ever...

It isn't even the fact that this topic has already been talked about. It's that it's just a stupid topic. WHO CARES about someone's employee number?
I agree, I come to this site to learn about firefighting, new practices and training, I really don't care for reading about this stuff over and over again.
these two should stay linked...valuable info here, may save your life one day,
Let's just keep adding to the replies so it stays on the top of the list.
But hey, the good thing is, when you are passing through BFN, listening to your portable scanner, you can identify someone on FFN by their ident number. Then you know who you can run to for permission to help out.
"uhh,..yes, I'm a virtual friend of #102 and they know my profile page with my training listed on it."
And another piece of well thought out planning of a thread is the color of your lights on the POV. You will need to know that in case you're, again, driving through BFN and hear a call in the area you are passing though. You will need to know if your lights will match theirs.
Ok, this has been done before, I'll stop now.

But seriousely, if these are the types of questions being asked of well experienced emergency response personnel with an endless supply of information at hand, what do they talk about in their own dept.?

About the time they got yelled at by the chief after pulling a family from a burning car.....doh
It's because FFN allows kids to be in here and then subvert the purpose of this site to become noting more than a myspaceface site with all the attendent crap. Maybe we should all do what Kali and now Art have done, abandon this site for another....on the other hand...these two should stay linked...valuable info here, may save your life one day,
I am here to learn, ask serious questions and talk with fellow Jrs.

I may be a "kid", but I really don't think I use this site like facebook.

Do I?
