18 years as a volunteer in a small progressive dept.
Learned a lot and provided with ample training opertunities.

41/2 years as a career Asst. Chief in a combination dept. Best job in the world since I can still get my hands dirty and ride the rigs.

29+ years, Marlborough FD.
7 as a firefighter/EMT
12 as a LT/EMT
6 as a Captain/EMT
4 as Deputy Chief/EMT

Hey Ron are Deputy Chief's still in the union where you are at?
I know in some places like us, when one promotes to chief, you are out of the union. In places like Milwaukee, batt chiefs are still in the union, but above are not.
Just wondering how it worked for you.

32 years retired if you can retire from a vollie company
Belvedere FD in Delaware, don't bother looking at a map we're not on one..
We used to have T shirts that said 100% volunteer until we got into EMS.....
