CHICAGO - A 31-year-old Chicago firefighter is dead after falling from a ladder while responding to a fire at a downtown restaurant.





 

 

Authorities identified the firefighter as Christopher Wheatley. He was taken to Stroger

Hospital in very critical condition and was pronounced dead early Monday.

Fire officials say Wheatley fell three or four stories while responding to a grease-chute fire at Avec Restaurant.
