Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined EMS as an EMT due to my nursing career and the fact that is all I have ever done is medical. My husband did forest fire service in NJ and also was an EMT along with extrication specialist for our local rescue squad. My son now is looking at attending the fire academy after he finishes his last year of home schooling where he gets excellent grades and is very knowledgeable about a number of subjects. We are very supportive of and feel almost protective of our local fire department. Those guys never get a break. God bless them and all of you that are on the front lines every day.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Because you never know what is coming next
Top Issues Facing Responders:
pay, burn out (no pun intended), having enough people to come in and become replacements as people retire.

Thank you for the kind comment about my sister I really do appreciate it. Just to let you know I'm a female not a male lol. Honest mistake, so it's okay.
Julia, thank you for your kind words. I still enjoy what I do. However, politics and budgets are starting to take the edge off the fun. I started out in college as a wildland firefighter. Interesting that now I am working on one of the State Incident Management teams. Back to the Wildland stuff after many years. Sounds like your sun will do well. He should be busy this summer. Take care. And again, I'm glad your here.
Julia, welcome to the FF Nation. I am glad you dropped in to join the group. Dont be shy. There is lots to do, read and be involved with. Your participation and involvement is important to us all. Takes a bit to kinda figure it all out but you will be glad you did. Have fun and look around.
